I believe that when they start with the foundations of the building, it's U/C. That's how it always goes here.

I could understand excavation for being listed under "Prep", but not piling or concrete work. When you being the process of piling and laying down concrete, you are "adding" positive matter to the project. You are no longer taking away like you did in excavation. You are now "constructing" something and adding to the project. This project is far pass the Kingdom Tower in terms of what is done relative to the project. Just make the switch.

Correct, piling is not enough but as soon as the actual construction starts, the status is usually changed to U/C.

Exactly. The Kingdom tower doesnt even have a whole in it... let alone pictures to prove that it's u/c. This project is not gonna stop.

The guidelines seem to almost always be enforced in the more restrictive manner exclusively for American buildings...

That is weird. What's the mod's reasoning behind keeping it U/C then?

I like how around the entirety of the forum people love to whine in project threads about statuses not being changed, yet not a single one of them bothers to post in the sticky thread that exists for this purpose. Hello? If you want the status changed, post in the status change thread. Is that so hard?

Status should be changed ---

I have to chime in here that this tower (and also TransBay Tower in San Francisco) should be listed as under construction. I can think of MANY towers that were listed as U/C yet did not have a hole in the ground whatsoever... I urge the mods to change this towers status. Let us on the west coast of the United States have some fun for once after years of great pictures and updates from China and Dubai...

Sorry ABQ_X-PAT, Our SSC Family Friend, You Have to show the SSC Family Moderators Here a Now Picture of this Tower's Site of Actual Piles Drilling Cranes and also Already Made Huge Round Rebar Pilings already made being Drilled in the ground.
It will be another 2 - 3 Weeks before this is True with Any Picture, IMO. Its still Prep. till that really Happens .

Mobile crane was on the scene today setting up the stationary crane. Shouldn't be long before we see the crane start to make an apperance.

Huh? Probably won't see a tower crane until after they do the big concrete pour. I could be wrong, though.

So far we've seen no photos of any permanent part of the building being constructed.

I don't honestly see almost any similarity between this and BofA in NY. This is curvy, narrow and symmetric, that tower is all hard lines, thick and asymmetric.
