The funding is all there. Nothing is stopping this tower from rising. It'll be the tallest of the west edging out the Transbay tower by about 30 feet.

I'll do my best to grab constant photos of the building! A livecam should be set up for something as important as this in the city center

I too will get occasional pics of the construction. I'll try to be there for the big concrete pour and take video as well.

Actually, the only thing we have to do now is wait for construction to begin.

But, there's a Bottoming Out ceremony tomorrow for the press. Maybe they'll set the first piece of rebar as part of the festivities?

Great, it's U/C.
Indeed, there are enough towers around where a webcam can be placed. Figueroa at Wilshire is the best.

Anyone know for sure if you can see the site from the rotating restaurant on the top floor of the Bonaventure Hotel? I kinda have a feeling CityNational Bank and Paul Hastings towers might be in the way... If you can see it, I would think that would be a great spot with public access from which to take construction photos.

Maybe one of these days, when it's a little further along, we could organize an LA SSC happy hour.

There's a Turner webcam in the Wedbush building, but it's not live yet because the building isn't under construction yet. They did a time-lapse of the deconstruction of the old building with it.

That's wrong.
If this isn't u/c, it can't be in the u/c forums. Just because it will be u/c soon isn't any excuse. Until it is actually u/c , it shouldn't be here. I don't see any construction- prep definitely, but it could be several weeks still before this is actually u/c. If it is u/c, what part of the actual superstructure of the tower is u/c?

Don't get me wrong, I am very excited to see this building u/c, but it is wrong to put it in the construction forums if it isn't quite ready to be there.

Is this building going to have a steel frame or concrete?

Most likely steel to accommodate for earth quakes.

I'm thinking concrete core with steel surround, footprint of the mat indicates large steel columns around perimeter, i'm also thinking the core may rise behind the steel, with slipforms rising 6 to 8 floors below the erected steel, encaseing the steel at the core perimeter inside,, this method was used on 7 World Trade Center.

Also consider, the tallest all concrete building in LA is the tower at Burbank, with 33 floors, anything higher, steel. and yes, mostly for seismic reasons

And Hyundi, providing a large portion of the funds to build this tower, makes most of it's money in heavy industry and the largest shipbuilding operations on the planet, which includes steel milling and fabrication

I'd say what the footprint photos show is already u/c. Besides, this building is still more u/c than the Kingdom Tower and that one is in this forum section as well
