To give you all a rough idea how Soleil will eventually look in Brisbane's skyline (Soleil is the tall one in the far left), Locke made this picture.

Great '2012' image

When Soleil, Infinity and 111 Eagle Street are completed ... GO BRISBANE!

really nice building I see some really good archictecture coming out of Australia-though the last time time I said said something similiar every laughed at me-but really, Australian buildings have a distinct look for me.

Really? How do they differ from Canadian or American towers for instance?

Good job they changed the design, still doesn't look quite right imho, but compared to those other buildings standing around I guess it's quite good.

That bend of the river ... where all the residential buildings tend to be 'apricot' (very Noooooosa) ... I think the darker colouring of Soleil will work well ...

When Soleil and Infinity are done ... come 2012 ... they will both frame the Brisbane skyline very well ... both being the tallest (roof height) buildings in the city.

One One One Eagle and it's glass ... is starting to take shape in the golden triangle zone

The lower apartments on the 'river' side are NOT going to have river views @ all ... thank god for the height of this tower because it will eventually tower over the other residential buildings around here.

Beautiful building! All Brisbane needs is another million people and it can start competing with Melbourne and Sydney to be Australia's greatest city

I doubt the population of BNE will catch up with SYD/MEL anytime soon ... even with two million people BNE needs to double it's population to catch up with MEL.

On Wikipedia it says Brisbane will be at 5 million by 2050 so we can never be sure how fast it will grow.

I think Infinity will look far more dramatic purely on it's location ... until Soleil gains height and 'towers over' it's surrounding residential building we won't get the full effect ...

I guess your statement means you haven't been to Australia?
Sydney and Melbourne are both far more interesting and diverse cities than Brisbane will ever be - they have not destroyed most of their heritage as Brisbane has, while still creating some very good modern developments (and of course some not so good!)
A lot of glass and steel high-risers don't in themselves make a great city!!

Having lived in all three cities ... they all offer a different and exciting experience ... Brisbane is half the size of the other two so it's hard to compare!!!

Brisbane is lucky to have world class arts venues like GoMA and the Powerhouse (New Farm) and hopefully it will get better and better ... who knows!

BACK TO SOLEIL ...

This tiny section of the CBD is well and truly "the apartment zone" ... Soleil, Macrossan, Skyline Apartments, River Place, Admiralty Towers 1, Admiralty Towers 2, Willahra Tower Apartments and the hotels - Mantra on Queen and Marriott.
