acc521 In Nuremberg: 29 April 2009

I went out here mainly to check out the Nazi Party Rally Grounds. It was really interesting to see just how Hitler actually managed to rise to power and the propaganda tools he used etc. Seeing some of his plans for the site gives you further insight into just how insane the guy was.

Interesting, but too bad you got a rainy day on you visit. Probably enhances the bad feelings of the Nazi buildings.

IMO, its a shame that the Nazi buildings are neglected so much . These are historical monuments and should be treated as those. Perhaps in 50 or 100 years people will realize this and make the surrounding a bit more attractive for visitors.

I do not believe that illuminating them is the right way to go either.

I'm not in favour of demolishing the past, just because its ugly. But I am not necessarily in favour of restoring it either. Let the buildings decay.

What is that arena type of place?
I guess it is not in the city area, right?
I couldn't see it on my city map when I was there

This is where the Nazi Party Rally Grounds are HSBC. The big arena is the Congress Hall and is where the Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände is marked on the map below.

Nürnberg is a very impressive city. I absolutely love the Altstadt area.
