I mean that the building inside the building.

The Ministry of Finance Towers in the background of this photo are being demoed to make way to a new 10 story building named Casa di Vetro.

Too bad there is no thread for Rome Projects and Construction thread at the City/Metro Compilations forum. I'll start that thread soon.

This is the most beautiful piece of contemporary architecture that I have ever seen. Nothing else even comes close. The concept is wonderfully subversive, sticking a piece of blobitecture in a shiny, modern glass box is genius!!!! I cannot wait until it is completed! (As if I needed another reason to want to travel to Rome)

Definetely the best project in Rome right now, I am sure it will be a real marvel.

Another demonstration (among many others all over the country) that Italy is finally reconciled with contemporary architecture

Italy is very far from contemporary architecture, and especially Rome

Well you cannot find easily something much more contemporary than the "nuvola"

What I am saying is that finally - after decades of sleep - Italy is building quite a few works of contemporary architecture, more or as much as other western nations. Think about the HSR railways stations, MAXXI, the skyscrapers of Milan and Turin, the great development projects all over the country...and bridges, houses and much more.

Italy is finally back in the world of architecture, and Rome is trying to do its share too with Auditorium, MAXXI and Nuvola

THis does not obliterate the great past of Italian Architecture, but it does provide a nice "XXI century" addition to them. And that's good

I like the idea, but I don't like too much to cover it with that glassy box
