An important question about living in Angola | Uma questão sobre a vida em Angola
Hi dear Angolan friends,
Since my company offered me to go to work to Luanda, I was wondering a lot of things about Angola and specially Luanda... really important issues in order to make my choise. I work for an Spanish company and what they have offered me is to go to Luanda to work on some projects, but the payment doesn't sound that good. It would be 4.000 euros monthly I need to know if I can live safely, comfortable and with no worries with just 4.000 euros. Can I rent a good apartement in a good place and besides that live without complications with just 4.000 euros? What I'm worried the most is how safety Luanda is now, that's why it is so important for me to know if I can live in a good place with no worries, a place where one can go walking to a mall for shopping or just taking a walk around. Is it enough 4.000 euros per month? I don't want to buy a house, neither a car. I just need to know if you can live in a good place with no violence or robbering near you. I've heard the southern Luanda is just like that... could you live there with just 4.000 euros? Sorry fir being annoying with that... but in two days I have to give my response to the offer... and I'd like to know Africa... but here 4.000 euros is not that good, but maybe in Angola it is not that bad. How good is that Nova Vida proyect? tell me everything about good places to live please. Prices, safety levels, roads, transportation, entertainment, etc. Thanks for your help! I really apreciate it

Hi,
first of all I have to say if you think that 4000€ is not good were you live right now, than it won't be in Luanda too, since it is the most expensive city in the world. A house rent in "Projecto Nova vida" woul cost above 1500€ monthly. And the most times you have to pay 6 to 12 month at the first payment. If you look for something more luxury, prepare yourself to spend at least 3000€/month. But life is nowadays much safe in the city. Of course you must be careful all the time, but is safier livein Luanda than in Rio for example. You need to have a car if you are going to Angola, because public transportation is not quite well develop. At least fuel is cheap (0.3€/liter!!!). For entertainment you got lot of clubs, bars with Karaoke or live music, some cinemas, teatres, casinos, and of course, lot of great restaurants. A good spended night for two, can cost some 150€ (eating out + nightclub).

Sim Barra!

It happens that I won't have to rent anything but buying my own food and other personal expenses, the company will give me a house and a car when I go to live to Luanda next month. Apart from having a house and a car i would receive around USD$500 for those named expenses and 3.000 Euros would be my payment. So now my question is... are USD$500 enough for eating at home and maybe going to the beach once in a while? That's all I'd have to do apart from working hehe. Is the food expensive? what about fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Wendy's or Burger King, can I find some in Luanda, or at least something similar? I aprecciate your replies!!! now I'm more relaxed about going to Luanda , even excited!Obrigado!!! P.S: I just speak spanish and English, I hope that won't be a problem. |

In that case you don't have much to think. Just take this opportunity, with that income you can live very well. The most expensive thing in Luanda is the place to live, but in you case you don't have to worry about.
