Are the Voyagers capable of the same top speeds?
Pendos obviously designed for 140mph and operate at 125mph.

Do Voyagers go above 100 mph?

I know the MediaCity spur is now fully operational but didn't they have some daft number like 78 problems with it in the first week of operations? I know they've definitely got it working now because I was down there yesterday evening. The MediaCity spur looks very different to the Eccles line.

Slight update: Posters being put up on the Freehold inbound platform this morning I would love to get into the centre of Manchester to see what the ticket machines and posters say there, but I won't be there until next weekend at the earliest (at which point, the ORL will be open and my trip will be redundant).

For people who can't read ATCO-CIF, the first line includes the start date of 20120611 (11th June 2012!)

The first scheduled service from St Werburgh's Road is 0508, from Oldham is 0522 - there's no partial journeys scheduled from Victoria or such towards Oldham as far as I can see (although a number of Picc services towards St Werburgh's does exist)
Hi laser,

Do you have a link to an ATCO-CIF spec that includes the extended 'Z' codes used by Metrolink? I've seen some AWK code that extracts the 'Z' records so the spec must be available somewhere.

Thanks.

Here's the new poster/map on Bury platform, if that's what you mean...

The Voyagers can do 125mph. Both the tilting and non-tilting variants have large windows, which suggests that giving the Pendolinos small windows was unnecessary. But then, maybe it would have been necessary for 140mph?

It looks different to the others, doesn't it? The other one, the Oldham line just extends horizontally out to the right, this one turns. How bizarre. Thank you very much Signalman, looks brilliant

Not sure I like it to be honest ... surely they could have bent the Bury line from about Crumpsall over a bit towards Eccles and then fit the Oldham line in next to where Bury used to be? Just looks as though the ORL has been half-heartedly "added on".

All getting very exciting now though!

Don't forget that they have to leave room for Rochdale
The other pic was of the map on the TVM, wasn't it? Thats a different shape (ok aspect ratio if you're being picky) so I'd expect the layout to be slightly different.

I prefer the one on the TVMs

So, by Wednesday the number of stations on Metrolink will rise from 41 to 49 (gutted it won't break into the 50s, but oh well). Good times!

It'll drop back to 48 when Mosley Street closes

Cheers Carl – to give away a ‘trade secret’ on timing at that location, you can actually hear the tram approaching clickety clack on the old jointed track, well before it emerges from the tunnel! I guess we will be able to hear it from the ‘inside’ on Wednesday morning. The last time I heard that sound was on the bit of old rail just North of Victoria, before they relaid the track a few years ago.

Well, the excitement is building. Here’s a photo-summary of the eight new stations on the Oldham Mumps Temporary line. (Spam alert – 30-odd pix follow, get scrolling!)

It looks as though they're trying to mimic the London Underground map by being sort-of, kind-of geographically accurate. However, given it's Metrolink and therefore I assume designed by someone's best friend's child's dog, it's gone all wrong.

I remember a thread here or on RailForums where a 'mock up' map showed that, with all the new lines added, the Metrolink map would resemble a swastika!!

Blimey, it really is blink-and-you'll-miss-it stuff here. Thanks to future and JDR for the latest.

You've beaten me to it on the network maps - Shudehill is updated as of this morning:

I was a little thrown by Victoria-bound 2005 (since it wouldn't be cleared for Mumps), and left disappointed after waiting for half an hour to see if it would head for Chorlton.

That aside, just some idle and futile waiting:

And finally, the not-so-exclusive PIDs. The Chorlton folk seemed unfazed - puzzling as the display might be, the promise of an Oldham extension is hardly keeping them in suspense:

It must of been heading into depot for some reason, I caught it on the way to town from Bowker Vale earlier.

All the trams I've been on today also have the new Oldham section on their maps for those interested.
