That's a big mistake you did there mate! Let me correct you, it was the flag carrier of three countries : Bahrain, Oman, and UAE with their bases in Bahrain, Muscat, and Abu Dhabi respectively

Oman has got their own Oman Air and Abu Dhabi got Etihad, therefore Bahrain/GF was left out alone and couldn't perform as well as they did before. Even now, they are nowhere as near as the big ME3 and WY.

EK to make a Clark comeback

Seems like EK is going to resume to Clark from March 2016, but the route also sees a new destination being added to EK network : Cebu. Therefore, Dubai - Cebu - Clark - Dubai triangle route.

Will Emirates keep those A340s? In a different question, how old is Emirates' current livery?

No Emirates is in the process of retiring the old A340s. They are also getting rid of the 777-200ERs as well. The current livery for Emirates has been around since the airline was started with maybe a few adaptions along the way. Emirates will keep the current livery because its too easily recognized around the world and its easy for people to know its Emirates and it would cost a lot to repaint the fleet right now.

By year end of 2016 all A343, A345 and B772ER will gone. Further 12 A332 will be retired and a few B773. In a few years EK fleet will be B77L, B77W and A380.

The only revision introduced in recent years was the enlarged fonts and large red "Emirates" banner at the bottom of aircrafts belly.

Shape of things to come? No, this is actually a Qatar Emiri Flight Boeing 747-8i, painted in similar livery to Qatar Airways.

Oman reveals plan for launch of budget airline

http://www.thenational.ae/business/a...budget-airline

Quote:
Oman plans to launch a budget airline in the fourth quarter as the country looks to diversify its economy away from oil.

The country’s aviation regulator has awarded a licence to Muscat National Development and Investment Company (MNDIC), a semi-government entity partially owned by Muscat Municipality, State General Reserve Fund, the country’s top sovereign wealth fund, and other Omani pension funds.

“We are looking at different markets such as the GCC, Central Asia and Africa,” the MNDIC chief executive Khalid bin Hilal Al Yahmadi told The National in a telephone interview.

Mr Al Yahmadi, however, did not disclose the investment or other operational details, saying these are “under study”.

Despite coming late to the game, Oman still anticipates potential for growth, as it anticipates air traffic demand to grow by 40 per cent by 2019. Neighbouring countries such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE have established low-cost airlines – Flynas, flydubai and Air Arabia.

“Based on our studies, fly*dubai showed potential that was not considered. We have potential with Muscat and Salalah’s good location,” said Mr Al Yahmadi.

The budget airline venture is to “fuel economic growth” for Oman. After the slump in oil prices, most Gulf economies that are heavily reliant on oil are now seeking stringent measures to cut costs and expedite their economic diversity plans to sectors such as aviation and tourism.

Kuwait Airways drops Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta service

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...servic-420442/

Quote:
Kuwait Airways is to cancel its Kuala Lumpur service as well as its onward connection to Jakarta as part of its network restructuring.

The carrier is also axing the Egyptian destinations of Alexandria and Sohag.

Kuwait Airways says the changes will take effect from 28 March, ahead of the 2016 summer season.

The airline has also confirmed the cancellation of its transatlantic connection from London Heathrow to New York JFK.

Kuwait Airways’ chief executive had previously told Flightglobal that the airline was seeking to reduce the number of onward links in its network.

The airline states that it is “progressively withdrawing from poorly-performing routes” which are not contributing to its profitable development.

Kuwait Airways adds that it is aiming to build frequencies on non-stop connections. It will serve Manila with three new weekly flights from 28 March and adds that it will operate increased services to London and New York during the winter 2016-17 season.

Kuwait Airways to provide hi-tech medical equipment aboard jets

http://www.gdnonline.com/Details/609...nt-aboard-jets

Quote:
Kuwait: Kuwait Airways (KAC) announced plans to equip its new planes with modern medical services, including connecting the plane with a medical system that enables the pilot to follow the health condition of any ill passenger with the medical center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

The new system follows the patient's condition and determines his/her treatment possibilities and procedures, Tareq Hamada, deputy manager for engineering service at KAC, stated to KUNA on the sidelines of KAC participation at the 4th Bahrain International Air Show 2016.

Through a linking device that measures the patient's blood pressure, sugar, and heart, the physician, who follows the condition, decides whether the situation requires an onboard treatment or an urgent landing to save the patient, Hamada added.

He said that KAC has also equipped the new planes with advanced medical beds for ill passengers that can be installed without needing to remove the plane's seats, adding that the beds are also automated and can be directed and moved in different angles that are appropriate for each patient.
