You can't fill a 777.

Neither could Budapest and they got a stopover instead.

Isn't BUD a non-stop flight?

BUD is daily with B777 but was launched with an A332. After those smaller aircrafts left the fleet there are just B77W and A380 to launch a route.

On the other side the 4th daily LGW flight which was supposed to start on 1st October has been cancelled.

Apologies. The Budapest stopover flight (proposed) is in ADDITION to a Daily Bud Dubai flight.

Why does Romania not try for a stopover on a DXB - US flight and see what happens. Filling a 777 is not easy.

EK to charge for economy seat selection during booking

In another news, EK (unfortunately) will start charging for advance seat selection on economy special and economy saver fare tickets (these are usually the lowest price ones) from 3rd October. But this charge will apply to when booking your ticket only. During online check-in which is available 48 hours before flight, it's not an issue!

So how much its gonna cost per sector?

Short haul (GCC, Iran, Middle East, Indian subcontinent) $ 15
Medium haul (Europe, Far East, and Africa) $ 25
Long haul (Americas, Australia, and NZ) $ 40

So far I usually selected my seat in advance during booking. But now, I'm not sure. I don't think you will miss out on your 'favorite' seats even if you select them as early as possible during check-in. I'm gonna give it a try that way first. But if it keeps happening that the seats I want get taken away, I might just as well go back to paying and selecting in advance

EK to launch Fort Lauderdale service in December 2016.

I think Denver will be the next route launched.

Interesting. Not Miami airport but Fort Lauderdale. Wonder why as most international flights usually go through Miami.

JetBlue has a hub in the Fort Lauderdale Airport and a strong code share agreement with Emirates so passengers have a lot of connecting options in the US and Latin America. Vice versa is true as well for Jet Blue passengers going to Dubai.

Plus the Fort Lauderdale Airport is pretty close to Miami only like 30-40 minutes away from downtown Miami by driving I think.

FYI: JetBlue serves pretty much the same markets from FLL and JFK. Stopping at FLL makes little to no sense at all when you can just connect at FLL.

I'm from Miami so I can be biased. But this move doesn't make much sense.

You can't bring a 777-300ER to FLL for a ultra-long-haul flight. Takeoff would be Impossible. The A380 performs better than the 777-300ER but it can't fit at FLL.

They can't expand at FLL.

At the end of the day, Miami would've been a better choice.

EK will be coming to MIA so don't worry about that to much. Once the Copa code share kicks in you will see Panama City finally go through, then Mexico City as well. They have a plan for MIA, and the whole Latin America's.

Did you you know that the FLL stop over is ten hours long so they can get as much time for the feeders to pack the air frame on the way back to DXB.

Emirates will launch a second daily DXB-ATH flight from 26th March with B773 (B77W from 1st August)

Etihad will increase SYD to double daily (current 11 weekly) from 6th February as Virgin Australia will cancel its 3 weekly flights from the same date. DFW will be served daily (currently 3 weekly) starting 2nd February and a second daily flight will be re-introduced to DUB (daily B77W + daily A332) from 1st April. On the other side LCA and ALA (each 3 weekly will be cancelled from 30th October.

That aircraft will be moved to the Abu Dhabi Venice route as Alitalia focuses on long haul routes from Milan and Rome....
