Wasn't expecting EK to announce any new routes anytime soon but this is good news, especially for Hrvatska!

I just had 4 flights with EK recently. Onboard their 777s in economy class and I did notice a few changes. Although these changes are not huge or too significant, it is still quite noticeable to the average EK frequent flyer.

So let's see... the refreshing/hot towel service has indeed been abolished. The only time hot towels were served was a red-eye a flight from Jakarta to Dubai before the breakfast service. The food's quality and quantity is still the same, but its some of the contents of the food tray you may notice a bit different. For example, they used to serve a small pack of tic-tac with the cutlery and other essentials, that's gone now. The cutlery along with salt, pepper, sugar, and toothpick was usually packed in a nice package. That package is replaced with a white, cheap one and the toothpick is gone too Also, the butter, crackers, dips, and biscuits were used to be served in a plastic covered up pack. That's even gone. After meals the crew used to serve tea or coffee with a trolley through the aisle. But now they carry tea/coffee jug on one hand and a basket of milk and sugar on the other hand and go through the aisle asking passengers what they'd like.
In the US, you ask for coffee/tea (with an accent) the cops are waiting for you at the "port of disembarkation"...

Leeham have an excellent analysis on whether Emirates are in trouble or not. They conclude not really.

https://leehamnews.com/2017/01/12/is...le/#more-21895

Turkish and Etihad are at significantly more risk IMO.

Nope I won't say EK is in big trouble. Despite their cost-cutting measures, they are still quite popular out there and have good load factors on most of their flights. EK is just going through what u might call a "rough patch"...slowing down their growth and all but I'm sure after a while it can get better again for them.

TK and EY are in lot more danger for sure. TK is facing issues due to the security situation at their home while EY hasn't been growing much plus made some really terrible investments in their partners.

Watching "City In the Sky" on BBC right now which spends a lot of time in DXB so do get a look on the BBC Player or Youtube...as some of the shots are something else.

Aaaaand Qatar and Saudia are both planning on swamping the local ME market some more with new wide bodies and large shiny new terminals in 2017 don't forget.

Not forgetting Iran Air either but they will not grow as fast as Saudi/Qatar will in the next 2-3 years.

Iran Air may be able to offer some very competitive fares but in terms of everything else are not going to offer much to most passengers that currently use EK or EY.
Apart from spotters most Westerners wont go any where near them.

Emirates bitch slaps Etihad.
Quote:
Emirates to launch daily A380 service to Brazil’s Sao (sic) Paolo (sic)

Dubai airline Emirates will deploy its flagship jumbo A380 jet on its daily route to the Brazilian city of Sao (sic) Paolo (sic) from March, it announced on Monday.

Emirates will be the first ever to operate a scheduled commercial Airbus A380 flight to South America when it begins the service on March 26, 2017.

A three-class A380 will replace the existing Boeing 777-300ER used on the route, offering a total of 491 seats, with 14 private suites in first class, 76 lie flat seats in business class and 401 seats in economy class
[...]
Emirates’ added capacity on the route comes after rival Etihad Airways announced in November that it would suspend flights to Sao Paulo from March 26, 2017.

The Abu Dhabi airline blamed the weakening Brazilian economy for the route’s closure.
P.S.: Mrs. Nagraj, proofreading is not a crime.

I would like to know, of all of these 3 airports, which one is actually the best:

1. Dubai?
2. Abu Dhabi?
3. Dhoha?

My personal favourite is Doha (Hamad International) Airport. I currently live in Abu Dhabi and lived in Dubai before that.
