Thanks for your advice! I'm planning to go to Europe this October. I think flying on DPS-DOH-LHR sounds like a great experience

Doha has the newest airport among the 3. Besides that the fact that more than 90% of the flights are those of Qatar Airways makes it the one with the best experience for a transit passenger (flying that airline)...

Dubai has the better one functionally...Say you fly on one airline (not Emirates) and then want a connecting flight on Emirates, that is possible at DXB without taking a visa and having to check-out and re-check in the bags. Also you will need longer transit times and longer walks from one gate to the other as it is one of the busiest airports in the world..

Abu Dhabi is building a massive architectural masterpiece terminal slated to open end of this year. Till then it will be congested in the existing terminals.

If he would'nt have invested in all those airlines and given that Airbus and Boeing could not make jets fast enough for Etihad to expand, Etihad would have been smaller than Kuwait Airways or Gulf Air... and then no one saw the drop in oil prices coming....He has set a strong foundation, its now up to the Abu Dhabi to do what they want with the airline, keep it a mid-size boutique airline for the rich or get a full fledged hub-spoke model going with gradual expansion of routes!!

Do we really need tow exactly the same ME airlines doing exactly the same? And that like 150km apart?

IMO, they should get over the regional ambitions, think globally and merge with emirates to form a global super airline.

Dubai is politically the weakest area in the region....the reason for that is intentional...to keep the place as business friendly as possible...

The others have the money and the power to do anything they want and the last thing they want is to merge with an airline from an area "less superior" to them!!

Also if you look back at history, Gulf Air was once owned by Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Abu Dhabi combined, based in Bahrain and that was not working for the other 3 shareholders.

Iran Air finally receives its first Airbus A330. They finally have proper modern long haul airplane on their fleet once again, after decades of sanction.
The EP-IJA was originally built in 2014 for Avianca, but never taken by the airline. After years of storage, it is eventually acquired by Iran Air.

What value does the awful plane spotting post by "Oasis-Bangkok" add to the forum? Other than feeding their (presumably) small ego and burgeoining need for self-gratification, the photo spam is utter drivel.

Etihad Airways PJSC sought to head off the prospect of further clashes over its U.S. expansion now that Donald Trump is president, saying it has no plans to add destinations beyond those already served.

CNN reports that Emirates are seriously looking at ordering 737s or A320s in the near future.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/02/13/news...iew/index.html

Quote:
"Over the next 18 months the airline will decide between adding the smaller aircraft like the Boeing 737 or Airbus A320, combining that with a deal for smaller twin-aisle jets, or continuing to only buy twin-aisle aircraft."
They will use them to serve smaller airports in the larger region after they move to Dubai World Central.

As far as the anticipated 787 or A350 order, they keep on waiting for the right moment to make a decision.

Now that is some very interesting news. Finally Clark has gained some common sense. To be fair, his policy of a wide-body only fleet made sense at the congested DXB hub, but when 95% of your fleet is made up B77Ws and A380s, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the problems with that strategy.

But there is no money to build DWC. This seems mainly defensive and probs some nasty analysts are about to publish a deconstruction of the all wides policy.

Wonder who?
