Plus they may also face under utilization of some of their aircraft.
EK was already suffering from an under utilized fleet after they lowered frequencies to the US by 25%. And they haven't really used that extra capacity to other destinations. Luckily demand on their US flights should increase again. The lost aircraft usage to DOH shouldn't be a huge problem for EK and same for EY. For FZ it might though since DOH is it's biggest destination.

QR on the other hand has a lot of extra capacity though. After the ban was put in place, QR has lost more than 50 flights a day from DOH - KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Egypt.

I think Emirates a/c are too big now so I suspect they will order a bunch if 787-9s,a few 787-10s, and may cancel some 777x a/c as a contra now they are sure the 777x will fly.

It really could go either way. The B787-9 would make sense but EK is an airline that splits orders between both aircraft manufacturers. They aren't going to become too reliant on one manufacturer as they use Airbus and Boeing orders in negotiations for more landing rights/justification of the current air bilaterals.

I doubt the 787-10 will be ordered as the engines lack the thrust EK requires since DXB is extremely hot and dusty.

I'm not sure if the B777-8/9s will be cancelled. The A380's future is in doubt with EK showing little interest in the improved version. Moreover, the current B777-9 order offers a direct replacement of B77W aircraft in the fleet, and the 777-8's will be used to destinations like MEX.

So based on this, I believe the A359 will be ordered. And you might question why EK would give up their initial A350 launch order with its steep discounts, but we don't know the exact details of the deal. Airbus might have offered EK an excellent offer at the time of converting that order to A380's.

The XWB is a superior aircraft compared to the Dreamliner.

I'm good with an engineer who works for an airline in the ME that fly both types. The 787 is just a head ache to maintain, the XWB is heaven.

That's interesting. I've never heard of the 787 having more problems, but I'm sure conditions in the Gulf test these machines to their limits.

QR is not too impressed with performance figures given by A350. Emirates cancelled them altogether and rumor has been going on that Etihad will cancel their whole order as well. Time will tell.

Really? But QR got launch A350's so they can't expect the performance to be perfect.

Talk is rife about EY cancelling A350s. We'll wait for the news.

After their massive losses last month and the indefinite delays on the new Midfield terminal opening in Abu Dhabi I expect no deliveries before 2019 at a minimum.

yes, because the plane is being manufactured, tested in Germany....if you noticed it also still has the German registration number: D-xxxx

All that will change when they ultimately deliver the aircraft!!
