Will miss this 5th freedom flight I took last year ... much better to be on an A380 than a cramped narrowbody.

Dubai – Algiers now daily on Emirates

Emirates will be adding an extra flight to its service between Dubai and Algiers, making it a daily service from 13th December 2017.

The launch of the additional flight will complement Emirates’ current six flights a week, and further boost inbound and outbound passenger traffic and cargo flow between Algeria and Dubai, and Emirates’ worldwide network.

The new service will operate every Wednesday with an Emirates Boeing 777-300, in a three class configuration offering 8 seats in First Class, 42 in Business Class and 310 in Economy Class.

“In line with healthy commercial demand, we are pleased to introduce an additional service to Algiers which will offer our customers even more choice and convenience to connect to Dubai and onward destinations particularly in the Middle East, Far East, West Asia, Indian Ocean and Australia. This includes popular cities served by Emirates’ A380s such as Kuwait, Jeddah, Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Mumbai, Sydney and Melbourne.,” said Orhan Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice-President Commercial Operations for Africa. “Algeria will become the fourth destination in north Africa to have a daily frequency, along with Casablanca, Tunis and Khartoum.”

Algeria is an important destination in Emirates’ North African network. Emirates launched services to Algiers on 1st March 2013. In less than five years, the route has carried over half a million passengers and nearly 27,000 tonnes of cargo to date.

The country is home to a rich variety of architecture and a vibrant cultural scene with a diverse heritage of Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and French influences. It boasts some of the world’s most spectacular coastlines as well as vast mountainous and desert landscapes.

Is it possible that at some time not very far, EK splits its flight to RIO and BUE?

Currently operated with B773 (not sure which configuration) on a daily basis.

Splitting this route would probably lead to B772 operation.

They would but there is a shortage of B77L's at EK. Perhaps they could borrow from EY...they seem to be wasting them flying short haul flights to India/Pakistan.

Most of it is lens distortion I think (look at the tiles and the engine).

Good to see some growth from EK again. For a while it seemed like only QR was growing.

Soon the new IST and JED airport terminals will open and we will see the inevitable expansion by TK and SV. The question is, how will the ME3 cope with the added competition?
EK has their inflexible fleet, excess capacity and most importantly, a very congested hub.
QR which is weakened by losing 20% of its traffic because of the GCC blockade.
EY which is probably the weakest and most vulnerable of the three, struggling to deal with both extra competition and bad investments.

Wonder if Turkish airlines will offer Australia flights.

The big advantage over M3 for the kangaroo routes would be their much denser euro network. In Germany they even fly to second and third tier type of airports such as Bremen and Leipzig.
