For now it seems they'll settle on 787 + 777 + 777X + A380. In about 10 years, that'd be down to 787 + 777X with A380 retiring. That'd be an interesting time.

I doubt the blockade will end anytime soon. But yeah let's hope they all have a better year, especially EY. They really need to 'rescue' themselves.

Just got this. Don’t know how accurate it is......

Fresh and accurate news from Ethiad which is in downsizing

All terms contracts were terminated from morning to the evening with 3 months notice

All Alitalia , Air Serbia and Air Seychelles are gone

They offered manifest of interest for Air Pacific - Fiji.

All 340 and 330 Cargo grounded

10 x 777 grounded
200 pilots most probably will be transferred to EK

Oh dear, not good news at all but lets see if its true.
I'm assuming these decisions would most likely have been made by their new CEO...

And so it begins...

Emirates Group Security and Etihad Aviation Group sign MoU for cooperation in Aviation Security
Dubai, UAE, 8 January 2018 - Emirates Group Security and Etihad Aviation Group (EAG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in aviation security. The MoU was signed by Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, and Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, His Excellency Hamad Abdulla Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman, Etihad Aviation Group and senior representatives from Emirates Group Security, Etihad Aviation Group, at the Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai.

The historic agreement, the first between the UAE’s two world-leading aviation groups, signals the importance of closer collaboration in aviation security to effectively exploit joint synergies to enhance efficiency and security for the benefit of both groups’ customers. The cooperation is also in keeping with the spirit of the ‘Year of Zayed’ which celebrates the vision and leadership of the founding father of the UAE.

This is only the start. There are so many redundant departments between EK, EY and FZ.

EK and FZ can share services especially in IT and customer service etc. and EY certainly doesn't need its own dedicated departments for its shrinking business.

UAE says Qatari fighter jets intercepted civilian flight
Excerpt

DUBAI (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates said on Monday that Qatari fighter jets intercepted an Emirati civilian aircraft during a routine flight to Bahrain, which Qatar denied, escalating a months-old feud between the Gulf Arab states.

The UAE Civil Aviation authority condemned the alleged incident and said it would take “all necessary legal measures to ensure the safety and security of civil air traffic.”

Sheikh Saif Bin Ahmed al-Thani, the director of Qatar’s government communications office, said on his official Twitter account that the charge was “completely untrue”.

The UAE is one of four Arab countries, along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, that imposed travel, diplomatic and trade sanctions on Qatar in June 2017, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism. Qatar has denied the charges.

On Friday, Qatar filed a complaint with the United Nations about an alleged violation of its airspace in December by an Emirati military aircraft.

So as expected, EK ordered the A380. Glad to see the production of thr most comfortable aircraft in the sky surviving for a little longer.

I'm not sure if more orders will be made, but I hope other airlines eventually see that some destinations are better served with the A380.

It won't be the most comfortable aircraft in the sky if they go for 11 abreast on the main deck as rumoured.

Can someone 'change' the thread title? SV is on Skyteam, so there should be ST symbol on it...

These are IATA codes in the title of this thread and the Saudia's IATA code is SV, that is why it is typed like that.

He means - there must be "TM" superscript on SV. (Saudia being a SkyTeam member). Any mods out here to help?
