Which Gulf-based airline other than Emirates flew to Amsterdam?

My guesses: QR and SV, if not KU.

Saudi Arabian Airlines, Gulf Air, Kuwait Airways, Yemenia, Iraqi Airways (Is that the Gulf) all came to Amsterdam in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

Qatar or Etihad never flew regular passenger flight to Amsterdam. They only where founded when the direct flights became the norm, and they never used Amsterdam as a stopover for their North American flights.

I mean in the present days. Because I'm planning to go to Amsterdam from Jakarta (or is possible Surabaya), Indonesia.

Not sure if I have asked already, but I want to know if gulf carriers(EK) refuel in Europe? Most of their aircraft have enough range to fly back to their hubs.

You've got at least two choices: KLM or Garuda Indonesia... for Surabaya, you would definitely need to switch flights either in Singapore or Jakarta. Other available flights include Emirates, Etihad, Singapore Airlines, or Thai Airways.

I don't think so. EK does nonstops between LAX, SFO, and DXB daily with B77Ws and B77Ls without any problems. Those use the polar routes to complete their trips.

That's not the area where I was aiming at. I was asking for the shorthops such as ATH, IST, VCE, SVO/DME/GVA/ZRH/VIE. I am asking for the 4-5 hour segments operated with a larger, long range aircraft. I am sure they can do a return flight on a single tank from Dubai.

Now Etihad "flew" to Amsterdam...code shared their flight with Garuda which recently switched its transit point from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

By the way, a few years back there was a talk that either Emirates or Qatar airways would like to open flight to Surabaya.

So far, the only Middle East airlines who flew to Indonesian destination other than Jakarta is Qatar Airways who flew to Bali.

Etihad's code share flight from Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam is operated by KLM. Their code share agreement with Garuda doesn't include Amsterdam because of the agreement with Air France/KLM.

Oh ok. Then definitely, those are among the destinations that use long-range aircraft for mid-haul routes. I might also add to the list destinations such as WAW, CPH, HAM, FRA, TXL, DUS, and LED. Those indeed can do a round trip with little to no need to refuel at the destination airport just to return to DXB.

Emirates fly everywhere with a big aircrafts, as the smallest in their fleet is A330.

Emirates eyes links to Pacific via Qantas ties

Awesome news!

I find that really nice, especially that it also competes with Thai Airways. But, with that, comes some serious competition problem: will EY, KU, WY, GF, or other Middle Eastern (potentially also South Asian) carriers suffer from such a service increase because QR has four daily rotations from DOH and EK to have five from DXB to Bangkok? That's some serious service indeed.
