By the way, a few years back there was a talk that either Emirates or Qatar airways would like to open flight to Surabaya.

So far, the only Middle East airlines who flew to Indonesian destination other than Jakarta is Qatar Airways who flew to Bali.

Etihad's code share flight from Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam is operated by KLM. Their code share agreement with Garuda doesn't include Amsterdam because of the agreement with Air France/KLM.

Oh ok. Then definitely, those are among the destinations that use long-range aircraft for mid-haul routes. I might also add to the list destinations such as WAW, CPH, HAM, FRA, TXL, DUS, and LED. Those indeed can do a round trip with little to no need to refuel at the destination airport just to return to DXB.

Emirates eyes links to Pacific via Qantas ties

Quote:
EMIRATES says it wants to extend its tie-up with Qantas to cover flights across the Pacific, allowing passengers to travel around the world on Airbus A380s.

Tim Clark, president of the Gulf carrier, says Qantas flights to Los Angeles could link with flights Emirates is planning from its Dubai hub.

"If the timing is right and the two aircraft meet, with Qantas and Emirates you could go around the world with A380s," Mr Clark said.

Awesome news!
I find that really nice, especially that it also competes with Thai Airways. But, with that, comes some serious competition problem: will EY, KU, WY, GF, or other Middle Eastern (potentially also South Asian) carriers suffer from such a service increase because QR has four daily rotations from DOH and EK to have five from DXB to Bangkok? That's some serious service indeed.

Hi aviation enthusiasts (I am a spotter too!), any news about the Fifth Freedom rights to Emirates from Milan (Italy)?

This morning we woke up with this amazing news but I want some confirmations by someone in the UAE (or well informed).

It will fly with EY aircraft, not GA. Trust me. If GA is involved, I'd see it as a codeshare.
