I'm more surprised that EK only starts Algiers now.
It's quite a big market, and I would tend to think that business relations are quite good between Algeria and the Gulf.

Very good question. Let me check once I get onto my laptop... it requires checking a lot of sources to verify that.

Oh yea, Toronto how could I forget, UAE and Canada having quite a row over it.

If they could though Emirates would fly daily to Toronto.

Emirates are really having a tough time breaking in to North America.

Geographically they are awful for connecting North American passengers, which they rely on for most of their revenues I suspect.

Well, North America is already a long-haul destination from Dubai to begin with... but, hey, Emirates operates to a lot of destinations in the US and Canada,

And to answer the question from yesterday about which cities are not served by Emirates on a daily (7x weekly) basis nonstop, here are the cities I found:

- Basra (Iraq) - 4x weekly
- Dakar (Senegal) - 4x weekly
- Erbil (Iraq) - 6x weekly
- Luanda (Angola) - 3x weekly
- Lyon (France) - 5x weekly
- Peshawar (Pakistan) - 5x weekly
- Toronto (Canada) - 3x weekly

+1. That airport gets some decent long haul action after all. I am sure the yields are there if you look at the list who serves it.

Expect EK in the future to have one of the largest seat counts for a foreign airline in the United States. They have Boston, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Orlando, Denver for sure on they're radar. Maybe even Las Vegas, and Pheonix.

That woud be really cool to see EK in Las Vegs. Not Phoneix unless EK joins OW. Not a good city for O&D passengers. Plus EK has LAX not too far down.

That must mean tons of B77Ws and A388s for EK to serve those destinations! But, would that mean that with all those cities serving direct from DXB, wouldn't that mean EK will seriously compete with airlines already doing US-Middle East services, especially from Chicago (Etihad and Qatar), Atlanta (Delta), and Washington/Dulles (United and Qatar)? That would really put a lot of pressure on both US and European carriers that cater to passengers heading to the Middle East to lower their fares and ramp up its service offerings to match or surpass EK's standards.

Well Surprise! EK is upgrading it's WAW Route with 77W (at least on my would be flight) on 31 Mar 2013. I don't know when they start upgrading using the larger metal. I guess it will be the largest metal seen in WAW Chopin for a scheduled pax flight, CMIIW.

And will that upgrade be permanent? I wonder too if it will use the 2- or 3-class variant of the 77W because that will affect the route's overall capacity, especially with Y class.

It seems that it is sending 77W with 3 class config, cause when I tried to make seating choice, it's showing 3 class. With regard to permanency, not sure about it myself, but occupancy on flights outbound from WAW seemed to be in the 80-90s (Y class).

Ah ok. I wonder which other destinations use the 2-class EK B77W aside from MNL, CGK, CMB, and BHX, as well as a few destinations in India and Pakistan?

I am not too sure about their 773s, but the 772s with two classes tend to be sent to low yielding destinations.
