I don't see where is Etihad going with all these "partnerships". Isn't the company overstretching itself a little bit too much? Just in Europe, they've got participations in Air Berlin, Darwin Airlines (Etihad Regional), Air Serbia, and now Alitalia.

Do they really need these investments? Given the open skies in Europe, couldn't they have just used Air Berlin as feeder by increasing its routes? Why 4 companies?

Covering all regions, they also have a part in Aer Lingus and will probably go into Air Baltic.

Also of note: Etihad has also forged partnership with Philippine Airlines as well, in which the latter has gone through a massive overhaul in terms of operations. And with Manila being among the busiest routes operated by Etihad, such a partnership could help in boosting airline links between the Philippines and Abu Dhabi over time.

I think they need all the strings in their hands to crack LH's game plan. Just look how they armed Air Serbia to crack down on Lufthansa's puppet airlines in the former Yugoslavia.

I'm wondering whether Etihad are going to launch a full global alliance given where they are now. Would be interesting to see OneWorld, Star and SkyTeam challenged with a fourth alliance.

Coincidentally, Etihad actually means union/alliance (among other closely-related meanings).

If you look at it the UAE (United Arab Emirates) has 3 airline companies for its name:

Etihad based in the capital Abu Dhabi which in Arabic (roughly) translates to United (Federation)

Sharjah's Air Arabia from the geographic interpretation of the 2nd part of the name

and Emirates Airlines based in Dubai that represents the last part of the name...

(in Arabic the name reverses)

Incredible results for Air Serbia in the first 6 months, increase of 71.1% when compared to 2013! By comparison Slovenian Adria grew by 6.6% which is considered a good result, and Croatian Airlines by 1%.

Looks to be a pretty subtle revision, unless I missed something in the video . I notice the Abu Dhabi coat of arms is smaller, with a greater emphasis on the UAE flag stripe.

Will Etihad do a bacon sandwich for that price? I didn't think so.

tullamarine I don't think Etihad (or Emirates for that matter) will do a bacon sandwich at any price!!! Qantas customers on Sydney/Melbourne-London lost bacon from the breakfast menu following the Emirates alliance.

BaconButty I finally understand the true horrors of globalization.
