Source:-http://www.flightglobal.com/news/art...d-2017-404214/ Etihad Airways will re-paint its entire fleet with its new livery by around end-2017, after unveiling the new colour scheme earlier this week.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier estimates it will have 15 aircraft in the new livery by end-2015, comprising four Boeing 787-9s, four Airbus A380s, six Airbus A321s and one A320.

"Every new aircraft will join the fleet with the new livery," says Etihad chief commercial officer Peter Baumgartner at an event to unveil the airline's first 787-9 at Boeing's facilities in Everett. "By end-2017, the entire fleet will be repainted."

Baumgartner declines to specify how much the airline is spending on the livery repainting, only saying: "It's a big exercise but it's worth it."

Etihad has 104 aircraft in service, Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets shows. It has another 204 aircraft on order.

The airline first showed off the new livery on its first Airbus A380 in an event in Hamburg earlier this week, followed by the 787-9. The carrier says the next aircraft to get the new livery will be an A321.

Baumgartner says the new livery comes at an appropriate time as Etihad moves into "the next era" of growth. He notes that besides the new paint scheme, the airline is also introducing new cabin interiors. "We are no longer a start-up, we have arrived," he says.

As many of you might know by now, Emirates will start operating its A380s to San Francisco on a daily basis from today... since I have no work today, I will be stopping by the airport to see it land right before my eyes.

DOH-MAN at the Double

Qatar Airways boosts daily operations to and from Manchester Airport

The airline increases frequency from 10 to 14 scheduled services per week between Manchester and Doha

Qatar Airways will operate additional services between Doha and Manchester from February next year.

The total number of flights operated per week non-stop between the cities will increase from 10 to 14.

The new outbound QR26 and inbound QR25 will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from February 15, 2015.

Richard Oliver, said customers will have more options when transferring onto long-haul services to Africa and Asia Pacific via the state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport.

He added: “Increasing services to and from Manchester to a double daily operation will provide our passengers with more convenient connection times and greater choice when connecting to onward flights through our newly opened Doha hub, Hamad International Airport.

"Combined with our recent announcement of the expansion of the Edinburgh service to a daily operation from May 2015, this means that Qatar Airways will operate a total of 63 direct services to Doha a week from the UK providing even more access to 145 destinations worldwide.”

The Manchester to Doha service started in 2003 and is now to be operated by a dual class Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Ken O'Toole, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airports Group (MAG) said: “We're delighted that Qatar Airways will increase its long-haul services from Manchester Airport, providing further direct connectivity to Doha and beyond.

“The service will provide increased choice to the 22m passengers living close to Manchester Airport.

"Customer support for 'Fly Manchester' has been fantastic with passengers continuing to choose Manchester over other UK airports as we continue to add new destinations to our network and increase frequency on existing services.”

Looks like Emirates is in hot water in the Philippines...

Philippines fines Emirates Airlines, orders halt to sale of extra Manila-Dubai tickets

It seems that, with the 3rd daily flight by the Dubai-based carrier, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific are taking serious notice of the "competitiveness" of the Manila-Dubai route, which could impact the Philippine-UAE bilateral air talks set next year.
Quote:
The Philippine government has penalized Emirates Airlines from selling tickets for flights beyond what it is entitled to for the Manila-Dubai route.

In a text message, Carmelo Arcilla, executive director of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), said the agency has fined Emirates P1.8 million, and has ordered the airline to desist from selling tickets for a third daily flight for schedules beyond December 26, 2014.

Arcilla said Emirates has no authority to operate the third daily flight beyond that date, which coincides with the end of a 30-day permit CAB earlier gave.
The flight in question is EK336/337, which operates as follows:

EK336 DXB1850 - 0650+1MNL D 77W
EK337 MNL0840 - 1345DXB D 77W

I think for that flight EK was using the seats that were entitled to Philippine Airlines which was negotiated when they were not flying to Dubai. Now that they themselves fly there and since they have changed codeshare partners (with Etihad in nearby Abu Dhabi), it looks like they want to get those seats back for either Cebu Pacific or PAL Express to increase their own services on that route!!

Perhaps... I'd better wait until the next Philippine-UAE Bilateral Air Talks (scheduled next year) to see how that will go. Observing the behavior of the three airlines flying to Dubai, it seems that they really want more flights... And add EY to the mix, and we've got some serious competition on the negotiation table. I think unlimited flight options between Manila and the UAE could solve the problem, notwithstanding the current slot problems at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila...

I read, I think it was in the report published by CAPA, PAL wants to use the extra seats to ramp services in Abu Dhabi...Cebu pacific wants additional seats to Dubai and to add services to Sharjah where they expect to partner with Air Arabia on flights to Saudi Arabia!!
