On October 1st 2014, Emirates retired their first Boeing 777-200, A6-EMD after 18 years of service. Read The Last Paragraph Under The ''Boeing 777'' Section. Source:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emirates_fleet

I think the A350's were supposed to replace them but they cancelled that order. Now they said they are deciding between the B787 or A350 for a regional jet. So we might have to continue seeing EK using them for a couple more years

Wait a minute... If Emirates is to let go of its A332s, what would be its most suitable replacement: the B787-8 or -9? I mean, that airline may still need some A330s to support routes that have less demand for a B777... If I were to replace the A332s, I'd go for the A333 since it is one size up from the A332, and it allows a continuous flow of orders from Airbus. Perhaps some of its older B777-200s can be let go too and be replaced by the A330-300 HGW.

Perhaps the A330NEO would be more suitable replacement considering EK already operate the type (commonality between types)
I'm surprised EK continue to operate old, exhausted aircraft such as the A332s / B772s but then again EK appear to be struggling keeping up with their aggressive growth.

B787-9 Range Is 8,300 nmi and A333 Range is 6,100 nmi B787-10 range is 7,020 nmi which is still more then A330-300s nmi so B787-9 and -10 is perfect replacement for Their A330-200 A330 can seat upto 295 in 3-class and B787-10 can seat upto 323 in 3-class B787 Is Best then A330 family

The A330NEO would be the perfect replacement. Same aircraft size with improvements. And 2018 is the predicted EIS which is earlier than the B787 and A350 delivery slots.
I believe EK planned to retire the A332's by 2014 but I think they've been surprised by the demand and growth, and decided to keep them till 2017 unfortunately.

A333 will be replaced by A330-800/900 Neo. These will have less fuel burn per seat according to Airbus. The A330-900neo will have 310 seats and a range of 6,200 nmi.
And if they will just use them on regional routes, range isn't that important.

Could you please stop using bold and big font?
Anyone will pay attention to you, even if you write normally as long as what you write has quality.
If you wrote with bold and big font frequently, you will land yourself in trouble.

Open up Microsoft Word on your own computer and you can make the font as bold and colourful as you like. When you post on a public forum, you have to obey the rules. Overusing emoticons and bold and coloured text is poor etiquette!

The 787 is a great airplane but I don't think EK really needs the extra range of the 787-8 and the 87-9. The aircraft they are looking for will be used on thinner routes. Most of those routes are to Asia, Africa and Europe, they can be flown with the a330neo.

Moreover, capacity-wise, I believe EK is interested in an aircraft slightly bigger than the a330-200 since they will be used for thinner routes. The 787-10 might be too big for them, making me think that they are more likely to pick the a330-300neo.

Last but not least, the key factor for this order is delivery time. That gives the a330neo an advantage since both the 787 and the a350 aren't available till next decade.

I think EK plans on operating only 2 types of aircraft in the future - B777s and A380s. The B777s would be used for short-haul routes as well.

People EK have already said the 787-10 is the perfect aircraft to meet they're needs. It's much more fuel efficient than the A350-900 on shorter routes. The 787-8 and 9 version are to small for them.

It will take Airbus a miracle to get this order back.

What EK really want from Airbus is a NEO version of the Super Jumbo.

With less then a year left until the next DAS it's pretty clear what will be ordered, and launched.
