Madrid-Galicia HSL.
Sector Zamora-Pedralba de la Pradería.

These two pics show the Valorio Forest, at the entrance to Zamora from Ourense, they are modifying in this place the track of the classic line to make room for the HSL tracks:

According to Today's Railways Europe of September 2013, number 213, Renfe allows the drivers to respond to the telephone calls. In this instance the driver was on the telephone for 1 minutes and 53 seconds.

Given the speed of the train, the speed restrictions on the line, the short stretch in which the trains was supposed to slow down, and the lack of landmark on the area, etc, etc, this was an unfortunate accident waiting to happen.

In putting safety mechanisms prior to the drastic reduction in speed, on a very short stretch of line, the enginners overlooked at the possibility of the driver being distracted by a telephone call.

As I said on a previous post " in that stretch there was little or no margin for error".

I am sure Renfe and Adif have revised their safety protocols, and reduced the approaching speeds in section of lines similar to the one in which the accident has occurred.

It was an unfortunate accident, but it was just that.

Quite probably the driver will be acquitted.

Maybe, but Iīm not so sure he will.
But that would lead into entirely off-topic territory, so I wonīt go any further.

I hadn't known that the train had just exited a tunnel before encountering the bend.

Latest Times - Oct 2013

Hi:

I'm having a real problem getting the latest times for Figueres - Nimes (via TGV ONLY) from any web site. I want to go in late October 2013.

Can anyone give me the current definite time-table.

Thanks,
Andy

Theyīre not available yet, but for what we know, there wonīt be any substantial changes... yet!

No direct Paris-Barcelona yet, the change at Figueres-Vilafant station from the TGV to the AVE is still compulsory.

Anyway, here you can get the French TGV tickets (www.sncf.com) and here the Spanish AVE tickets (www.renfe.com).

A photo of the construction works at Barcelona-Sagrera station, taken on September 08. Works are almost halted.
Sorry for the size:

I went through the last 15 pages of this thread but I can't keep myself from posting this question:

Why is it that, in all those beautiful stations or hub's, there are no masses of people to be seen on the pictures?

Just wondering because these station have to require a huge investment and if there is nobody which will use it, why would you build it. But, the benefit of the doubt says that me that these pictures are made before opening...

Most of the official pictures are taken before the inauguration of the station. Some of the unofficial pictures are taken some time after the arrival and departure of a train, when there is still a lot of time to the next train.

Iīd rather say itīs the other way around.

The Fyras have reminded us suspiciously of the Talgo trains: ersatz.

I donīt know if Talgo applied for the Fyra project, and itīs probably not a very ellegant thing to say, but if only youīd chosen Talgo, itīs likely that you wouldnīt be in this situation...

They could have chosen to go for unicorns and burned their money, and they wouldn't be in the situation they're in now

(by the way, don't say "you": Dutch people had no choice in the matter)

Dutch AND Belgian.
Yes, but there were companies and organizations responsible; the Dutch and Belgian citizens never voted for or approved this V250 debacle.

I thought you understood that I assumed that the common citizen is innocent about this, since it is obvious.

It's the same as saying "French have built a good rail network" even tough only 0.01% of citizens were involved in building anything. Obvious indeed...

Hmm, no, it's like saying "you have built a good rail network":

"if only youīd chosen Talgo".
