To bring down cyber crimes in Trichy, the city police commissioner, Shailesh Kumar Yadav, inaugurated a cyber crime cell at the commissioner's office on Friday.

Following the inauguration, the cyber crime cell received three complaints so far. The complaints included online lottery, pornographic messages through SMS to a woman and a life threatening message to another. The cell will function at the ground floor at the office of the commissioner of police. A team of policemen comprising an inspector, a sub- inspector and four from other ranks will initially look after complaints.

Further, the number will go up according to the increase in rate of crime. At present, an SI will take care of things until an inspector is appointed. Cyber crime cells were already set up in Chennai and Coimbatore and have been functional so far. Later, Madurai and Tirunelveli will get cyber crime cells. The government has sanctioned Rs 16.5 lakh to set up a cyber lab in Trichy.

As of now, the Trichy police have come across a number of cyber crime cases that mainly include harassment of women through SMS, ATM fraud, online-lottery and online-multi level marketing (MLM) scams. Prior to setting up the cell in Trichy, such cases were being dealt with by the respective police stations. As dealing with cyber crime cases needed a long time and expertise, policemen were struggling with breakthroughs. "There was a government order to set up a cyber crime cell in Trichy already. But it was not implemented. So, I took the initiative and inaugurated the cell in the city," said Yadav. "As there was no inspector available, a team headed by an SI will take care of things. An inspector will be appointed very soon.

Meanwhile, cyber crime officers will be trained in the Tamil Nadu Police Academy to deal with cyber crime cases. The trained officers will be helpful in giving clues to the investigation officers to crack cases, he added. "Though the cyber crime cell comes under the city police jurisdiction, it will entertain complaints from across the district," he said.

இது குறித்து ஐஓபி., பாங்க் மண்டல முதுநிலை மேலாளர் சீனிவாசன் கூறியதாவது: இந்தியன் ஓவர்சீஸ் பாங்க் 75வது ஆண்டு நிறைவு விழாவை முன்னிட்டு நெல்லை மாவட்டத்தில் பாங்க் சேவைகளை விரிவாக்கம் செய்ய புதிதாக 9 கிளைகள் துவங்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. நெல்லை மாவட்டத்தில் ஐஓபி., பாங்க் 62 கிளைகளுடன் மற்ற பாங்குகளை விட அதிக கிளைகளை கொண்ட பாங்காக திகழ்ந்து வருகிறது. எங்களது பாங்கின் புதிய கிளைகள் கிராம பகுதிகளான குத்துக்கல்வலசை, ராமையன்பட்டி, மேல மருதப்பபுரம், நயினார் அகரம் மற்றும் கிருஷ்ணாபுரத்திலும், சிறிய நகரப்பகுதிகளான வாசுதேவநல்லூர், பழவூர்- ஆவரைக்குளம், நகரப்பகுதிகளான பாளை., என்ஜிஓ.,காலனி, பேட்டை சிப்காட் போன்ற பகுதிகளில் திறக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இந்த புதிய பாங்க் கிளைகளின் சேவைகளை வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் பெற்று பயனடையலாம்.
இவ்வாறு பாங்க் முதுநிலை மண்டல மேலாளர் சீனிவாசன் தெரிவித்தார். இதனையடுத்து பவள ஆண்டு நிறைவு விழாவை முன்னிட்டு பாங்கில் கடன்களை பெற்று முறையாக திரும்பி செலுத்திய வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. புத்தனேரி செல்லப்பாவின் பட்டிமன்றம் நடந்தது. இதில் வாடிக்கையாளர்கள், பாங்க் அதிகாரிகள், ஊழியர்கள் உட்பட பலர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

CHENNAI: In a bid to make the state slum-free, the Tamil Nadu government has selected nine urban agglomerations under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) for preparing proper rehabilitation plans.

Official sources told Express that the likely nine cities are Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur, Tiruchy, Tirunelveli, Salem and Vellore.

Sources said RAY may be extended to all 25 urban agglomerations with more than 1,00,000 population based on the 2011 census and subsequently to all urban areas.

According to State government estimates, about 13.96 lakh families (59 lakh persons) are living in urban slums in Tamil Nadu.

Similarly, a report by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation estimates the slum population in Tamil Nadu at 86.44 lakh in 2011.

Rajiv Awas Yojana, which was formulated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, envisages that each� State should prepare a plan of action that includes preparation of legislation for assignment of property rights to slum-dwellers, upgradation of existing slums and action to prevent new slums.

Preparation of the slum-free city plan will broadly involve slum redevelopment or rehabilitation plans based on a survey of all slums—notified and non-notified —mapping of slums using state-of-art technology, integration of geo-spatial and socio-economic data and identification of development model proposed for each slum, according to Rajiv Awas Yojana Guidelines for Slum-free City Planning.

Sources said that focus would be accorded to rehabilitation of slums in objectionable areas in Chennai and top 10 urban agglomerations initially, followed by slum rehabilitation in other cities. Interestingly, civil society has welcomed Rajiv Awas Yojana and said it will bridge the gap in housing. Vanessa of Citizen Rights Forum said that the housing process under RAY should ensure inclusiveness of the cities, adequate community consultations and mapping of urban land.
