I never claimed such a thing.

At the same time you make highly questionable claims as: "I don't need the opnion of RIBA members to say the best architects of all time worked in Rome and Florence".

You yell a lot but don't really listen to others.

The world is bigger than Europe. You also seem to be contained in a time vacuum. Architecture did not start with the Romans and end with the renaissance.

Anyway, it's all irrelevant to the thread. Back to topic.

But saying a city is nothing special......A city is the historic collection of the live of millions of people.
That is not a relevant argument, many cities in the world (including some I have seen) are really ugly, lacking of many major styles/architectures, and without any remarkable buildings !

Indeed a city is made by life and works of thousands people, but sometimes that doesn't mean they have built a remarkable city !

Buy a good architecture book and try to study it.

Often for sanitary reasons or grand schemes that replaced the old centers. Barcelona's center survived since the city was not allowed to expand and contained with force by Madrid.

I live in Asia, I have seen my fair share of less attractive cities. But we are talking about European cities here with a legacy of 100's of years.

My guess is that you have not even left Europe once in your life. See more of the world and be less narrow minded is my advice.

Hey Ribarca, don't worry. This is the typical french, italian and english arrocance about the rest of Europe...

They wont see the beauty of Spain, Germany or Poland. Don't worry.

The only arrogance is saying wath you said in #6.
This is not true. I love Seville, Granada, Segovia, Salamanca. I think Madrid has some of the best museums in Europe but it has no good architectures at all. I don't like Barcelona.

Paris, London or Rome were the capitals of their own empires. Barcelona was never the capitol of an own empire. The Kingdom wich Barcelona belonged, Spain, ill-treated Barcelona and bombarded it several times. And for example, Spain prohibited business between Catalonia and America, after the discovery of the new continent. The unique region of all Spain that was banned of trading with America.

So Barcelona has much more merit.

Barcelona is not the only one, there is many many others in Europe (since we speak of Europe):

Paris has many very old buildings, churches and bridges (from medieval times)...
Rome, of course (I don't mean its Roman ruins)
Almost all french cities have kept intact their historic centers (Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Lille, Bordeaux, Strasbourg...)
Florence
Venice
Edinburgh
Amsterdam
Prague
Brussels
Salzburg
......
And many many small cities all across Europe.

Of course it is, but almost all (if it's not all) major styles of architecure have their roots in Europe and were copied or have had influence in the rest of the world !!!

Oh Pincio, you love Granada, Segovia and Salamanca and you don't like Barcelona? Go to a mental hospital and get lost. The centers of this cities are pretty but there are no comparison. Maybe you don't visit the historic center of Barcelona and you only see the Sagrada Familia. Neither did you like it?

What soccer team you support? Did my Barša humiliate yours or what?

They are small cities. But Seville is not too small, and I think Seville is better than Barcelona. More, I think it's the most beautiful spanish city.

Did we ever get any money to repair all they destroyed.

At least Barcelona was never the seat of a fascist dicatator. No buildings commemorate one either.
