Will be the first "skyscraper" in Turin. Looks ok but not very special. The city looks very flat, except for the old tower, it is pretty unusual nowadays even in Europe (except for Rome and some other cities) to have so few highrises in the city center. I'm sure that Turin is a really beautiful city anyway.

Not one of Piano's better works. He's usually a pretty remarkable architect, but this is fairly ordinary stuff.

By the way Italian cities just "woke up" at the first decade of 21st century in terms of building highrise ...even the most metropolis city like Milan considered "late" where its city skyline currently still in the process of transforming into modern one

Among reasons there is the 'protection' of historic-artistic heritage. So some associations are against skyscrapers: 'ruin the typical skyline' according to them. For example in Rome, you'll never see an high skyscraper, that exceeds in height St. Peter dome. Or in Turin... for this skyscraper: many people were 'against' the fact that IntesaSanpaolo Tower could overcome in height Mole Antonelliana (167,5 m).

Wow , Turin get a skyscraper. I was in Turin end 1994 and the city was interesting. The tallest building then was Mole Antonelliana . I lived in Heidelberg , learned a Lady from Turin . When I travelled there by train I had to change the trains at least 10 times in Germany , Switzerland and Italy. When I bought the ticket in HD , the man asked me for the station in Turin , showed me a couple of stations on his PC , and I choose Porta Sousa and Forgot that Porta Nuova is the cental station . But at least , there at Porta Sousa was nice high-rise ( 1960s ? ) in the dark nearby ...

Aldo Morbelli e Domenico Soldiero Morelli, Grattacielo RAI (Italian broadcast service), 1962-1968. Not as tall as undoubtedly elegant.

What a forerunner!

FYI, the New Porta Susa station lies underground aside of the old one. It's meant to become the Main Station of Turin to much an extent.

Oh ,thank you for the information and the pic of the RAI tower , bringing back memories . I was not aware about the second skyscraper and the new Porta Susa station.

In the german city of Kassel happened in the 1990s the same , similar to Turin. Their old main station in the city center was a "bag -station" where the trains come the same way in than they go out . After the completion of the high-speed "ICE" train tracks they have build the station Kasse-Wilhemshoehe into a modern ICE station under street level .5 km out of the center in a welthy neighborhood it became the new main station.

This tower has some very white cladding. Even the glass looks white, almost.
