Here's my next brick object, the St.Mary's church in Gdansk/Danzig, not far away from my hometown, by the way.
I think this photo is very intriguing, cause the church looks here like an isolated ship or an island in the sea, and the roofs of the houses are probably waves ...

That green wannabe skyscraper on left is just the best example how only one building can destroy a silhouette of an old city, and there are, unfortunately, many other such ugly buildings in the city.

In my city, our most historic and beloved building - Independence Hall - is brick. This is the place where the first Continental Congress met, the Declaration of Independence was drafted and signed, and the Constitution of the United States ratified. You might say the USA was born in this building:

I lived in Philadelphia for three years myself. Like you said, this is a very important building.
But, as much as I respect what you say, your thumbnail photo doesn't do it justice.

Strange thing. It seems to be a lighthouse, but I think it isn't.

It could be a bell-tower somewhere in Italy.

Although it did house a beacon on the top, its main purpose was to store water to operate the lock gates hydraulically. At its peak at the turn of the century Grimsby docks was the busiest fish dock in Europe.
