With this real estate boom that we are seeing in Kinshasa, it was surprising to see that Forrest which is one of the country biggest builders not on course. Well there he is with this one.
I heard the name of the building was “Empire Forrest”.

This is another view of the building. Sorry the picture is blurred. I took them while driving. I will take better pics when I’ll have the occasion.

This is the actual work on the building. It started in 2010 but stalled because of a conflict on the land, it has now been resolved and the work is progressing at a very good speed.

Good finding jjmutax. This project deserves a thread of its own; I hope we will get detailed info about it soon.

This is another project in the vicinity of the “Empire Forrest” (right behind the Congo Futur Tower). I took the picture in 2010, but since then I’ve never found time to check on its progress.

That building has been topped (6 or 7 floors). Unfortunately, work has stopped since 2011, with no sign of continuation.

Yet another stalled project…These uncompleted projects are becoming a common sight in Kin. It seems that many would-be entrepreneurs are biting off more than they can chew; they start ambitious projects with a small capital hoping for a miracle to see them through, which does not happen…

Shocking! Really Congolese are "autre chose". Materials for the Cement factory arrived since 2008 and they were still stock up at the port! Shocking!

Good news. At least now it's leaving the port for PO.. Now, how long are those materials going to dwelling in a garage before they are used for construction is another question. But I am confident that with the stance they are taking it won't be long before tele50 screams: Revolution de la modernite en Province orientale avec la cimenterie.....

I heard about this Kinduelo project on the Boulevard du 30 juin back in 2010. It will be a 14-storey (or 24?) building constructed by a Chinese contractor. Whether it will serve as a hotel or a residential building is not clear. Secrecy is one of the Congolese idyosyncracies I resent most. On almost all major construction sites in Kinshasa there are no renders, no project description boards.
