**The Olympus Thread**
I've always had Pentax cameras until today when I bought my first olympus....so I thought I'd create a thread where I and other olympus owners can chat about the features etc.
The Camera I bought is the SP-590 UZ with 26x Optical Zoom as it's main highlight. My camera ![]() 2.7" Display ![]() Lens at full zoom

Bloody hell, that's got some reach on it, hasn't it? Isn't there a converter for it too, to make it even more mad? How are you finding it?
Always had a soft spot for Olympus, even though I've mainly Nikon SLRs. I'm waiting to have a play with one of these, if they ever actually come out...

I live in the countryside and it was raining all yesterday so I have not been out to try it yet.
TBH I have never owned such an advanced camera so I have a lot of playing around to do before I get the hang of it. I am going to NY and LA in July and have purposely bought the camera 6 weeks in advance to get used to it before I go. |

It says in the reviews and shiz that my camera can take wide angle shots...howver I have no idea how to set the camera as such to take them.
Anyone have any idea how? |

Your camera will take wide angle shots at the equivalent of 26mm, i.e. when the camera is not zoomed in on anything, i.e. the shortest length of the lens. It can't take true wide angle photos.
You should have gone with the Panasonic I recommended Eddy, zoom isn't everything.

salreet, it looked cool and feels cool...also I thought it was this that you recommended...I didn't remember so I just got this.
Also my neighbours bedroom window is like 200 feet away so I need a good zoom. |

Wouldn't you say a 35mm equivalent of 26mm was true wide angle? It's not extreme or anything, but it's definitely what I'd call wide angle.

Yes true, I meant extreme wide angle.
