Most buildings renovated by now have been paid by the owners.

Many of the buildings to be renovated will be financed by funds from GTZ (Germany) part by grants loans and partly by loans with a very beneficial interest. This project was started to give visible results only this year. Until now there have been studies on important buildings and the degree of damage to them. They provide around a part of financing and technical assistance on site. In addition, they have organized many conferences in wich architects learn how to properly part prepares to publish a building so as to preserve as much of it historical substance.

There is also a partnership with breweries Timisoreana which will renovate 5 or 6 buildings (depending on costs) owned by the mayor. They will pay ~ 500 000 Euro for the renovation.

Magnificent, Bogdan. Many, many thanks for the gorgeous pictures. I remember first hearing about Timisoara back in '89 when the anti-Ceausescu movement began there (brave people, the inhabitants of Timisoara!). At the time it seemed to be a heavily-polluted place, and many of the people were actually covered in soot. I assume the countryside around the town has been cleaned up as the town has been restored to its original beauty.

I hope to have the opportunity to post as many beautiful pictures.

Indeed the image of the city has changed in the meantime but rather chaotic. I hope that with future urban general plan and master plan (made with urban planners from Netherland) to improve things in terms of new investment.

Until regenerate another historic facade, I will post some pictures of works from the historic area.

With or without "the aquarium" in the historical center of Timisoara?

How to show the center of Timisoara and what to do with the controversial glass building situated in Victoria Square? Debate today in Timis County Council session where they discussed the draft to change the face of the center who will shoulder CJT, City, Metropolis and European money. In total about 10 million.

"I chose to demolish the building that stop the view of Huniadi castle", said Ostaficiuc. Most county councilors claimed the same thing. Since owners will not agree to the demolition, June offered as option to purchase the building by City Hall and CJT, and then to collapse that building.

Project to rehabilitate the historical center, CJT will handle the complete restoration of the building which houses the Museum of Banat, and surrounding the park.

In the same project discussed the possibility that traffic in front of the Cathedral to be stopped at the weekend or when events are held, and then the area to become pedestrian only.

I would like to add that baroque Fortress-town Timisoara was not constructed by the principles of Vauban but of his main opponent Dutch ing. Menno van Coehorn and New Dutch school of fortifications.

Under the supervision of prince Eugen of Savoy himself and not only of Marcy, Timisoara was build by Swiss ing. Nicolaus Doxat de Demoret and was his first major work.
Nicolaus Doxat was called "Austrian Vauban" but he was much better urban planner than Vauban and Timisoara is good example of his urban planning and fortifications work.

Of curiosity, what do you think about some work involving the lifting height of existing buildings located in the historical zone? The subjects so far have no great architectural value, are simple cabins with floor and maybe with one floor.
