There are many better than Milan or Valencia in Europe, not listed here, frankly i can bearly see a skyline there.
And Liverpool yes? Look, Liverpool has only one building of more than 100m (without communications tower and the cathedral), and only two others between 90 and 100m. With this is enough to discuss skyline? Don't make me laugh. What about Leeds? Come on, man, if its tallest building is the third in Valencia. Of course, your patriotism is sometimes exaggerated.

I dont think Butch is British.

If he was then he wouldn't have left out Manchester which is superior to Leeds by far.

And on the Liverpool front. Its terrific.

All true but its the composition of the skyline that makes it good.It also has the advantage of being by the water. The main point of this thread is the rate how good the skyline looks not how tall its buildings are.

This is not about the height or quantity its about skyline, and Liverpool presents a nice waterfront skyline (for a 2nd tier) I dont see a skyline in Valencia, the towers dont stand out, prove me wrong with your best shots.
I am from Poland, living in Poland and frankly dont remember the time when we annexed UK

I forgot about Manchester, I put it on 2nd with Hague and Liverpool.

Manchester

Exactly! The Liverpool waterfront is a very nice mix of historic buildings and modern highrises. The towers also seem taller, than they are.

And your point is?????????????

Your rules for the best skyline basically just seem revolve around the size of your building, sorry, erm, buildings!?!

Surely, (and please correct me if im wrong as i havnt been on here for ages) with this being in the 'Architecture' section of the forum, then the composition and aesthetic qualities of the skyline are what matters?

I'm pretty convinced that in few years Milan will reach the 'first category' of European Skyline League as there are dozens of highrises projects under way

Anyway some pics of current situation

Berlin's skyline is obviously the winner. Hope they would build more skyscrapers.
I also love the Fernsehturm, it gives Berlin an easily recognizable skyline.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get it: why is it so obvious?

well obviously not.

other than that there is no real winner in such a poll, especially not with the actually present: "we vote for our own shit" - flair.

Berlin obviously not, Milan looks better and more dense. Also there are more projects in Milan.

Birmingham's got my vote, but Naples should have been on the list, the best IMO. Amsterdam is also very nice

Kyiv has the second biggest number of hirgrise buildings in Europe after Moscow. Some of the cities shown here even don't have anything higher than 100 m not even talking about the proper skyline. Kyiv also has one of higest density of building, not 3 building here and few more around the city like on the pictures shown here for some cities.

And about 100 more 20+ building are under constructions in the city.

If Valencia doesn't stand out the tallest buildings, simply because is surrounded by dozens of buildings of more than 60-70m. Valencia has over 30 buildings over 20 floors. In Liverpool, no more than 5 or 6. Therefore, the assumptions of highrises Liverpool out much because they have nothing at hand to be prevented, but are lower than those of Valencia.

But I'm not speaking only of Valencia. The fact is you said that Valencia and Milan have no skyline, and has voted for Leeds. Or explain to me why, or just keep saying it's understandable, because Leeds has three or four buildings more or less high, and the rest barely exists.
