My time in Leeds

Having spent the last 4 years in Leeds, UK, I've made quite a few photographs. I thought I'd share them here

I'll start from my oldest shots, back from 2006.

Inner ring road and the chimneys of a small power station near the university campus.

1.

Parkinson building is one of the landmarks of the city and the official symbol of the University of Leeds.

2.

3.

Corn Exchange. Another landmark building. At the time of this photograph being taken it was a popular place with the members of various subcultures, housing a variety of quite exotic indepentent shops. Last year the building was taken over by a new developer, which converted it into a large restaurant, a move which was regarded very controversial.

4.

5.

The university's main bus stop.

6.

Autumn in Woodhouse Moor, aka Hyde Park - a large park next to the university campus.

7.

8.

Autumn on campus.

9.

10.

Flaming sky above Headingley, an eastern suburb very popular with students.

11.

A good start to the thread! Leeds doesn't get that much exposure on the international forum so I'm glad someone started a thread.

Looking forward to more photos.

Thanks guys! Time for some more

Autumn of 2006 had some beautiful weather.

12.

Worsley building, housing the university's school of medicine and dentistry.

13.

Leeds town hall rising above terraced houses.

14.

Down by the Leeds-Liverpool canal. The constuction of Bridgewater place, currently city's tallest building, was near the completion.

15.

16.

Clarence dock is a newly built-up area near the Royal Armouries museum. Back in 2006 the construction was about to be finished.

17.

18.

19.

The museum itself.

20.

These old industrial buildings have been converted into nice residential buildings, giving this area a very nice atmosphere. I would love to live here.

21.

22.

Some not-so-nice council estate towers.

23.

24.

These photos were taken a couple of days before the bonfire night. Traditionally, a large one is built in Hyde park.

Thanks for your comments. Let's continue.

A few shots taken on a foggy morning on my way to the university.

St. Michael's Church in Headingley.

26.

Pretty much all of these photos are taken along Otley road. Because Headingley is very popular with students, and Otley road is the main way towards the university, it becomes very busy during weekday mornings - not only the road itself, but also the sidewalks. Because I am a fast walker, I used to hate "overtaking" slower students as that usually meant me stepping onto the bus lane. Quite scary considering how fast these double-deckers usually are

Didn't realise my photobucket bandwidth was going to get used up this month. I've re-hosted the photos elsewhere. Should be visible now.

More and more excellent shots. I love the different appearances of the sky in different pictures too - some of the skyscapes are really quite dramatic. Well Done!

Thanks Mike. I am quite a fan of nice skies. Whenever there's one above the city and I'm not out with my camera I feel like I'm missing a perfect opportunity for some good photography

Anyway, let's carry on. Kirkstall Abbey, the ruins of a Cisterian monastery founded in the XII century, is one of the city's main landmarks.

The ruins can be seen in the very left of this panorama.
