Municipal population is irrelevant to most of these items. They should be looking at metro.

Also, a municipality that is attached to a larger metro, whether far such as San Jose or close such as Mesa, will borrow from the region's "stuff," rather than reinventing it all just because there's a county line. Locally the applies to Tacoma and Everett quite a bit, as well as Bremerton and Olympia.

Navigable waterway: Indianapolis...

Since when is the Salt River (Phoenix) or the Trinity River (Dallas) navigable?

Thanks for the update/correction. Seems San Jose does indeed have both a symphony orchestra and a marathon race.
Now let's see a *real* photo of the city's skyline...that one must be another city!

I agree with mhays, municipal boundaries can be misleading.

Largest city without an NBA team... Seattle...

I suppose someone could start a "Metropolitan areas without a..." thread. But then you'd get disagreements over whether you're talking about MSA's, CSA's, urbanized areas, etc. It's just easier to discuss cities.

If you use the term "city" to mean "metro", then sure. "City" is an ambiguous term that means different things to different people and professions.

If you mean "city" to mean "municipality", then many of our biggest lack teams.

Don't forget about the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Las Vegas tops Portland though (not by much).

Mesa is not the largest city without rapid transit. Detroit would take that sorry crown, followed by Tampa. But then, what defines rapid transit in this case? Both Tampa and Detroit have very small rail systems in place.

They may not have a dedicated city museum, but they have several world class exhibits in the Belagio and other casino resorts.

"Las Vegas tops Portland though (not by much)."

By whose count is that true? If we are talking metros, no. City propers, perhaps

My mistake, I should have checked metro's; I only looked at city populations.

UH... Detroit has a massive bus system as well as the elevated People Mover tram system. Last time I checked both of those were considered "rapid transit"...
