It reopened in the old Red Balloon Company, across Olive from where Restoration Hardware used to be.

I had dinner last night at the new Pagliacci on Madison at Lake Washington Blvd. Nice place with a cool design that fits a lot into the small building. Actually has a few parking spaces on the property.
I talked to an employee about how this store alters their delivery boundaries. This guy happens to plan their delivery boundaries so it was kind of interesting. He said previously Madison was their south boundary (essentially) but they didn't serve Madison Park but did serve Broadmoor from their north Capitol Hill store. This new store allows them to set their south boundary at McClennan (street on south side of Lowe's, north side of Franklin HS) and the west boundary at Rainier Ave. They still have lots more territory for new stores - Beacon Hill and further south, West Seattle? |

![]() itadakimasu by mSeattle, on Flickr Walked by a new eatery gearing up for an opening at 4743 Brooklyn Ave. in the U District. itadakimasu - https://www.facebook.com/itadakimasu.seattle I post this just because I was walking by and saw construction going on. I backed up to get a better look inside then snap a shot of the sign when the owner came out to chat. He was happy that I might post a picture on a photo/discussion board of city fans.

Looks interesting, I'm always on the look out for new Japenese restaurants.

Isn't that the site that's cycled through at least two or three other Japanese restaurants in recent years? One was a burger place that I think was run by a Japanese family called "OK Burger," with a sign that said "Oh, it is good! Everything is OK!"

I hear there used to be a Thunder Burger & Teriyaki there, too.
Even if it's good, I can't help but think the name is a hinderance. "Went to an awesome Japanese place last night." "Great - what's it called?" "Um, ita-something." I still have to look up how to spell Uwajimaya, despite shopping there for nine years. And I have no idea if my pronunciation of it is correct (just leaving the U silent). |

If I could find a sushi place that did rolls with lighly cooked oysters and a little lemon... Had that in Vancouver and it was astonishing.

mhays (or others) have you been to the Italian Family Pizza yet on 1st Ave near Seneca? I stopped in last night to check it out. Great reviews on Yelp. Former neighbors that I talked to last night at the Watermark holiday party gave it good reviews too. I need to try the place out.

Bastards put their sign in the middle of the sidewalk. So no.

I am hearing that Rovers is closing for good this Spring. Only heard of it - never been. But, heard it was like one of the best restaurants in Seattle in league with Canlis and the Herb Farm.
Anyone ever been? |

At least you stick by your principles. If those signs are modest in size and are right in front of a pole I don't mind too much. The worst place near there for signs on the sidewalk is across 1st Avenue at the top of the Seneca Street stairs where it gets crowded waiting to cross the off-ramp from 99.

Uwajimaya is pronounced "ooh-wah-gee-mah-yah." Despite popular perception, Japanese pronunciation is pretty simple - it's almost always pronounced exactly how it's spelled, unlike English or French. "Itadakimasu" is a good name for a Japanese restaurant, as that's the equivalent of "Bon Appetit" in Japanese.
