A33 Wünnenberg-Haaren - Paderborn - Bielefeld - Osnabrück

A photojourney of the entire A33 from Kreuz Wünnenberg-Haaren at the A44 motorway northbound towards Paderborn and Bielefeld, where the A33 has a missing link, so we continue through the transitroute of Bielefeld. At Borgholzhausen, the A33 continues again, where I drive until the end of the A33 in Osnabrück.

106 photo's of the A33

Video: A2 Autobahn, Oberhausen - Dortmund
A drive on the eastbound A2 in the Ruhr Area in Germany. The A2 is a major truck axis, however truck traffic was relatively light because this video was taped in the summer holiday season. It consists of two parts, and runs all the way from Kreuz Bottrop to Kreuz Dortmund-Nordwest, a distance of about 32 kilometers / 20 miles.

Part I:

Part II

What, if any, are the current plans to eliminate that gap in the A33 at Bielefeld?

Yeah, since a long time there are long term plans. We won't see a full A33 anytime soon. Maybe they even want to extend it from Osnabrück to the A1.

The part between A2 and B61 ist under construction and will be opened in December 2010, one part is finnished planned but defendanted and one part ist still planned.
So it's possible that the gap will be eliminated untill 2015.

Yeah, but I've seen maps stating it's "under construction" a long time ago. This is just a slowpoke's project like the A1 in der Eifel and the A44 east of Kassel.

Diesel price: € 1,439 in Germany and € 1,259 in the Netherlands

Shit, in Poland diesel costs 1.468e, how it is possible, Germany and Netherlands are richer than we are.

€ 1,48 for unmanned pumps to € 1,59 at freeways. However, 2 weeks ago it was € 1,70

So at least gasoline is cheaper here, it costs the same like diesel.

Chrisz, what kind (brand, model) of car do you have? I can't guess from your movies. And what do you in Netherlands prefer: Japanese, Franch, German, Korean or Italian cars?

I have a Renault Kangoo, which is a French car, I just bought it, it's a 2004 model. Before this car, I had a Peugeot 306 from 1995 and a 1994 Toyota Corolla. The last car was a big step forwards. I don't really have a preference, however I like French and Japanese cars.

In Poland Skoda and Toyota beats other brands. I personally prefer far far east, first my car was Daewoo Matiz and now I have been driving 2006 Almera. But I thin that this is off topic and we shoul back to the German's motorways.

To me it looks that lots of border crossings have bad pavement. Does this have a reason or am I just crazy? Or both?

About 145 km/h (90 mph) in that last video. The speed limit was 100 in Germany and 120 in the Netherlands though.

Roadtrip France/Spain/Andorra

Roadtrip France, Spain & Andorra

It was supposed to be a vacation, but since I had to return early to home because I hurt my shoulder (I can only sit without pain now), it resembles more of a roadtrip. I drove 3.300 kilometers (2,050 miles) in 5 days, with the last day (yesterday) being the longest drive, over 1200 kilometers in 14 hours.

I chose to take more Route National and Route Departementale to avoid most of the tolls, since they charge about € 0,10 per kilometer, a 1200km drive back and forth can easily costs over € 180 in tolls. I'd rather spend that on diesel. So I haven't driven only motorways in France, but I did drive some of them, and I show the most interesting motorways I haven't had seen pics from yet on the dutch wegenforum.

I travelled through France, Andorra and a bit of Spain. As always, my photo's will be in easy browse albums, in order not to flood these threads with hundreds of pics.

Stats:

# of days: 5
Distance: 3.300 kilometers
Times fueled: 6 times (30 liters on average each time)
Fuel usage: 1 liter 17km to 1 liter to 22km (depending on terrain)
Longest drive: Le Puy - Zwolle 1220km (14hrs)
Shortest drive: Brive - Bellver de Cerdanya 480km (7,5hrs)
Average drive: 660km
Toll costs: about € 15 - 20 (mainly viaduc de Millau)
Fuel costs: € 1,08 in Andorra to € 1,49 in France (diesel/Gazole)
Borders crossed: 7 (5 countries)
