@KHS: I have driven from Zagreb to Dubrovnik last year, beautiful highway. But this time I would like to see Belgrade and Sarajevo and Tirana.

@zazo: thanks for the advice, I will see if I can add it to the trip.

@Chris: Yeah, I agree more time would be ideal but I don't think I can afford staying away from work more than 20 days. And thanks for the info on the toll vignets, I think I forgot to buy a vignet in hungary, czech republic, slovakia and slovenia the last time I was there

@Stiffler: I've already been to San Sebastian but a stop in Salamanca sounds good.
Madrid depends on the traffic and the time I want to be in Lisabon.
A stop in Granada will be added to the list.

@euromast: Ik ben nog niet weg

@RipleyLV: I know, but as I said I have seen some of the cities I listed already.

@GregfromAustria: I always drive with my lights on so I don't have to worry about it.

If you can, I think you should add Madrid and Berlin in you tour, because they are two great cities

Anyway enjoy your trip !

Typical Dutch I'd say. I also always drive with my lights on. You see it also more and more in Germany and France. A few years ago, only tourists had their lights on.

Having your lights on during daytime is not to see but to be seen.

Agreed. Once I almost crashed with an oncoming van (I was overtaking a car), b/c it didn't have its lights turned on and its color was grey, the same as asphalt. My fellow passanger didn't notice it either!

in Austria weve bad experiences with the light-obligation,so they cancelled it.

now the most people in austria are glad to decide theirself if they want to drive with lights on all the time.

im not against light on day, i would just welcome more daytime running lamps (not as bright as low beam headlamps and rear lights are not activ) in new cars like in the us.

@renco: did they really cancel the light-obligation in croatia? what was the reason?

When I turn on the engine the light are automaticly switched on and when I switch it off the lights are also turned off so I never have to worry about my lights. I think every car should be like that.

@ParisianStyle: I've been to Berlin twice last year, but Madrid might be a good addition.

A19 Courtenay - Sens

The A19 gives a connection between the A6 and A5 motorways in France, and it's a quiet motorway. It's generally a connection from people travelling towards Paris on the A6 and need to be in eastern suburban Paris. The route is about 32 kilometers long.

19 pics from the A19

I would generally say, for the big cities you just need more time. So it would be better to either leave them out of this route and visit them seperately or extend the stay (and therefore make the route shorter in order to fit everything into the 20 day timeframe).

Do you take holidays for all the 20 days, or have you included as much free days (saturdays, sundays and official holidays) as possible?

in Croatia we have large mess with lights: they've been obligatory, and now it is obligatory only in winter period (what a major stupidity!). people have got used to lights, and now it is totaly mess because about 20% don't use lights, so you don't see them at all. 5% of those 20% don't use lights untill it is really dark. police is guilty because turned off lights were one of the easiest ways to charge drivers with 80€ (instead of giving warnings). idiots. and then comes our beloved government with decision about lights in winter.

I can take a total of 3 weeks off, 21 - 22 days incl weekends and holidays. So the 20 day plan allows for 2 additional nights somewhere. 20 of days is still plenty of time to have a little adventure and see many places I haven't seen before. I can always go back

ok, i'm lazy for uploading, but i'll do my best.

so, we have exited from motorway at Castellamare di Stabia and now we took SS145 to Sorrento. unfortunately, i didn't have enough time to make a round trip on sorrentian penninsula. now i'm a bit sorry for that.

so, this is SS145. soon after exiting A3 we passed lon viaduct over Castellamare di Stabia. i forgot its name, i just remember it is more than 2000 m long

road is ok, but very crowded. tunnels are scary.

the worst thing is mass of garbage around the road. what was the top - tunnels are especially full of garbage. all the way in tunnels there is garbage by side. and in SOS niches there is garbage left in black sacks. i really couldn't believe and still cannot imagine why the hell in tunnels???!!!

landscape is fantastic - you allways have the sea and Vesuvio at one, and fantastic hills at the other side

and you can allways stop beside and take photos like this

this one is top of the tops

Sorrento

our final destination was Capri. this is the first impression of it what you see when you'rr arriving

this is an average resort at island...

...and this is an average view from an average resort. once i'll be rich enough to afford myself 2 weeks there. i know i will

Andorra is not really special. I've been there a week ago. You can fuel up there pretty nice, Euro95 was € 1,08 and Diesel about the same.

Do you drive a petrol or diesel car? You get a better mileage with diesel, so it can make quite a difference with 12.000 kilometers.

Like

consume 1000 liters of petrol at € 1,5 = € 1.500
or
consume 665 liters of diesel at € 1,4 = € 931

these figures correspondend with 1:12 for petrol and 1:18 for diesel.

This is unbelievable! But at least there's a distinction with Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento, which are in blue. They should be written bigger though.
