PART 3

I think this is the village Ranca. As it can be seen, many pensions are being built.
Also you will see cows, donkeys, sheep.

Ranca and the road seen from above

9 mountain passes in 3 days

Here are the signs

A first pass, it carries a lot (relatively) of local traffic on the Merano-Brennero route.

It opens only 7-20h. It is built as a tourist route, and has got a €14 toll. Many artistic installations, a museum (of the pass) and some vantage points/platforms.

Low pass linking St. Moritz to Austria and Sud Tirol in Italy.

Highest road in Italy, 2nd, 3rd or 4th highest mountain pass in Europe, depending on the criteria (through road, excluding/including loops etc.)

Very remote pass in Italy, with some really narrow sectors and a long plateau in the middle which feels very remote.

The pass itself is easy to traverse, but the approaching road on the Italian side is very challenging with unlit, curved, one-lane tunnels. There is plenty of structrures build up there in the mountain, and the pass has no glacier close by, contrary to all other we visited.

A relatively modern road pass, built in the late 1960s, and the ones with the widest approaching roads. The easiest to drive also.

It is a well-kept pass, with views from nearby glaciers. The only issue is the lack of more strong guard-rails that could enhance safety and allow defensive drivers to take a tad higher speeds.

Another nice mountain pass with a stunning glacier trip to end our joyride.

Very nice! The only one of these I personally drove is the Passo Giovo, where I was caught by a snowstorm... in June

EDIT: I also drove twice through the Passo Resia, but it is so low that it does not feel like a real pass

Radi would be very happy with the lack of crash barriers on those Romanian roads!

Wow, highways in Hungary are so neat and ordered!
The sceneries are also really nice; that makes me want to go there someday

Thanks for sharing!!
