Take the ferry from Brindisi to Corfu or Igoumenitsa if you have time! The ferry ticket is very cheap and its near so if you want come over here if you have not been in Greece yet

Never been to Greece and it's tempting, unfortunately I have no time... I have to attend to a friend's wedding near Taranto and later visit my sister-in-law near Rome and a female friend who recently gave birth near Florence

You are going to drive on the semi-famous SS 7-ter.

One of the strange road nomenclatures in Italy... A partially expressway, partly old way. Partially completed bypasses and some at-grade bypasses incorporated as streets negating all time save...

Otranto is nice as well... SP-358 has awesome views between Badisco and Castro, but I realize you are only going to Otranto.

I already drove several times the largest part of the route (the whole A14, A15 and A1, and also parts of A12 and A22). The only autostradas I never drove on are the A16 Bari-Naples and the A11 Florence-seaside (but it's not certain I will drive on it, it is just a desiderata for now). I read A16 should be a really interesting drive, I'm looking forward to it - and to tell you later!

Otranto is just a desiderata as well, depending on how much spare time we have we can extend the visit to the coast or exclude Otranto altogether and focus on the city of Lecce.

Include San Marino and/or the Vatican City to make the trip international.

But you can get into Vatican only by foot

@Spinoza: in Otranto you can see the easternmost point of Italy and also the sign referring to the 1000th (and last) km of SS16. It's the only 4 digits km sign in Italy.

Or as alternative drive down the "Trinità dei Monti" staitway. Or over the Calatrava glass bridge in Venice. Believe or not, both had already be done.

I'd like to start posting pictures from my last roadtrip. Do you prefer each picture posted individually or just a link to the online album?
