We don't write Ščečin, we leave it as it is in Polish (and Ščećin is Serbian, we don't have 'ć').

I have a question regarding some nice roads between Dubrovnik and Vienna. I'm doing a road trip there later this month and like to find some roads worth driving.

I'm quite familiar with Croatia and will probably stick to the coastal roads there. But especially East-Slovenia and everything between the Wörthersee and Vienna is unknown territory and your tips are very welcome!

Why are you going from eastern Slovenia to Wörthersee? That's kind of weird. Anyway, Maribor and Ptuj?

You are right, probably will skip Wörthersee and head towards Graz via Maribor. Any tips?

Maribor and Ptuj is pretty much all you can see in Slovenia between Zagreb and Graz.

Only if you have time to lose and you plan to see places along the coast. Otherwise just stick to A1.

Dubrovnik
Zadar
Zagreb
Graz
Vienna

Any tips are very welcome!

All these places are worth a stop, the are beautiful

Have you ever been to Bosnia? In the Dubrovnik area lie the wonderful Mostar and Pocitelj.
On the way between Dubrovnik and Zadar there is Krka National Park. If you don't have time to go there, there is at least a parking spot where you can see the waterfalls.
Between Zadar and Zagreb there is of course the Plitvice National Park, another amazing place.

You can check out my travelogues or my Flickr for pictures.

Of course it all depends on how much time you have.
Dubrovnik definitely deserves a whole day trip, the other of your stops go as half day stops each. Mostar and Pocitelj would be another full day together.

Thanks that's very useful! The cities I mentioned are my overnight stops.

I added Krka national park to the 'to see' list. Plitvice I already had on it. Sadly I don't have time for Bosnia this trip but I might make a little detour in Slovenia between Zagreb and Graz going via Ljubljana. If anyone knows any other nice roads or sights please share them!

Ljubljana is a nice city.
Between Zagreb and Ljubljana, you can stop in Samobor or Novo Mesto.
Maribor is also worth a stop.

Two road trips I make regularly, usually I do each one around once a year.

Trip to a warm spot in the winter (Vacation). Note that the location in Florida varys, but generally its the Fort Myers / Naples area. 2400km, 22 hours of driving.

Then the trip to visit Family. 1400km, 13 hours, but I sometimes cut through the US which while a shorter trip distance wise is roughly the same length in terms of time due to the reliance of backroads instead of freeways.

Do smaller trips like Toronto-Ottawa or Toronto - Montreal around once a year as well, and make an odd trip to Detroit or NYC. Ottawa, Montreal, and Detroit are all around 4 hours, NYC 8 or 9.

Fort Myers is interesting, I remember looking to buy a newly-built house,3 bedroom, garage, in a subdivision in Cape Coral for like $35k US back in the 08-09 krach time. But like you say, it's far, you end up stuck going back every time you have vacation and wasting time repairing it.

Now I think I will spend $425k for a cramped single garage 2-bedroom 1990's shoebox in Milton (!)... I know, location, location, but how much snow in Florida?!

What is the better route from GTA to NYC? QEW-Thruway or 401-{137}-I-81 and etc?
