PRESS RELEASE:

Rezidor announces Hotel Missoni Cape Town, South Africa

June 9, 2009 - The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, announces Hotel Missoni Cape Town in South Africa. The new life and style hotel featuring 157 designer rooms will open its doors in 2010 – just in time for the FIFA World Cup.

“We are delighted that the world of Hotel Missoni now extends from the ancient rocks of Scotland to the deserts of Arabia and now to the southern tip of Africa, in that continent’s most stylish city”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. The group has signed a worldwide licence agreement with the iconic Italian fashion house Missoni and yesterday opened the first Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh – two further properties are under development in Kuwait and Oman. A new and distinctively different kind of lifestyle hotel, Hotel Missoni will quite unashamedly set itself out to capture the increasingly important lifestyle sector of the hospitality market.

Hotel Missoni Cape Town has a prime location in the heart of this thriving city. Surrounded by upmarket office towers, trendy restaurants and clubs and popular tourism sites the hotel offers convenience to both business and leisure travellers. Besides 157 rooms, the hotel will feature a signature Missoni Cucina restaurant, a bar, a stunning rooftop terrace with a cantilevered swimming pool and views of Table Mountain, a full spa and small meeting and private dining facilities.

“Like all Hotels Missoni the new property in Cape Town will also demonstrate a strong interest in design, an appreciation of detail, an understanding of food and wine, a belief in authenticity, a cognizance of culture from a contemporary point of view, and a strong and equitable set of social values”, comments Kurt Ritter.

“Cape Town has in recent years become one of the most popular locations for fashion photography, commercial and film productions. Furthermore, the entertainment industry, together with the tourism industry has become the fastest growing and most successful industry in the Western Cape so we believe the city and market is ready for a true international lifestyle brand like Hotel Missoni” adds Andrew McLachlan, Rezidor’s Vice President Business Development Africa & Indian Ocean Islands.

The Hotel Missoni Cape Town is Rezidor’s 4th hotel in Cape Town (following the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Park Inn Greenmarket Square and Radisson Blu Hotel Blaauwberg which is also due to open in 2010) which today is one of the global jet set capitals and remains a predominantly tourist destination but is growing as a corporate and business destination as businesses diversify and the demand for services grows in the region.

Cape Town is a cosmopolitan city of three million people with a superb natural setting, with the Atlantic Ocean and its deep water harbour and bay on one side and the impressive iconic Table Mountain on the other side.

Lekker that they are building a Missoni in CT!!
The one here in Edinburgh is just about to open.
THeir hotel design is very contemporary and what you'd expect from a fashion house.
Very much positioned in the boutique side of the industry along with Hard Rock Hotel and Versace.

the design for CT is nothing 'fashionable' at all. very bla! not worthy of our beautiful city
perhaps better suited in Sandton Now the one just above this...that's cape town!

The existing building has eleven floors. A renovation project is impossible to complete in under 1 year, especially if it involves adding several floors to the building.

Word of advice -

The 18F in the title is a typo - I meant to type 10 but hit an 8 instead of a 0.

My bad. Apologies for the confusion/false hope.

Missoni = Oscar Pearse? Image provided above looks like same building as from thread about Oscar Pearse. Moreover text in release is fairly similar to lines on official OP site.

Maybe the render will show the current building to be spiced up a bit. Hope so.
