Cities surrounded by green space

Are there any other cities in the world with a similar layout to Adelaide? The CDB/Downtown of Adelaide is completely ringed by parklands, it provides a nice buffer between the city and the suburbs.

Madrid has the Casa de Campo at southwest, that is a historic public park with 1.700 hectares and Monte del Pardo at northwest, that is a typical spanish forest of 16.000 hectares. In fact el monte del Pardo is the 24% of all Madrid's township.

The first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about a city surrounded by green is Manaus, Brazil (although it's surrounded by rainforest rather than man-made greeneries).

But that is outside the Metro area is it not? As you can see from the Adelaide pic, the parklands are a buffer between the city and the metro area.

no the green belt surrounds the urban area of London and has prevented London swallowing near by towns up. Part of the green belt is within the greater london boundary.

just take a look at image...by google earth

the green area is "tijuca national park"...its the biggest park inside an urban space....
At the past it was really different...until 1808 it was devastated to became farms to plant coffee...but by the order of the the king D.Joao I, they made one of the first reflorestation that we have notice.....

Actually, Floresta da Tijuca is surrounded by Rio de Janeiro and not the opposite.

Medellin, Colombia, it is surrounded by a big green valley and the city itself is very wooded.

My city , Trieste , is located in the northeastern corner of Italy and is almost entirely sorrounded by greeneries , in these sat pix the dark green areas are forests and woodlands , the light green ones lawns , gardens , pastures and horts , mostly public.

the highway that runs around the city

Most of these parks are provided with bike and hiking trails , and beautuful view over the city center , there are a lot of animals too , foxes , squirrels and even wild boars (no kiddin')

areas for climbers just outside of the city

Hong Kong
A city of 1,090 sq km with 7 million people, but over 70% of the landmass within the boundary is undeveloped and over 40% of the landmass within the boundary is dedicated as country park.

Wasn't Moscow supposed to have a green belt around the city a few decades ago?
