That what I was thinking. The "pedestrian link" is far from complete, and I'm not even sure how buses will get to the station.
No way they can finish it in a month. |

Looked at the pics again. No way this will be done. Station might operate but who knows how people will get from Canal Walk to the station.

![]() They've even started landscaping the little canal at the foot of the bridge. It looks quite tranquil. Pity I didn't take any photos of it. |

I don't think so, they need to build an entirely new road linking sable road to the station.

Thanks for the photos
![]() Every morning I drive past the closed off-ramp from Sable Road onto the N1 I can't help but think how much it must SUCK if you planned on taking that road You'd have to go all the way down to Koeberg Interchange in order to turn around if you're in traffic, as turning around there is impossible with all the cars. And sitting in inbound N1 traffic for no reason would fail too.

The pedestrian link will certainly be finished on time. As for buses, I don't know if there is meant to be provision for that in the next few months, but they are doing something in the area between station and N1 - will there be road access to the station from the
N1? |

thats great but people will not be walking from the parking areas. there will be a bus to the station, but without a road, no buses can access the station

No comprendo on the bus thing, Mo. The pedestrian link is just that, so people can walk from/to CC and the new station. This link will be ready shortly.
What parking areas are you talking about? |

Its a park and ride station, so you park near Virgin Active and take the bus to the station.

The parking lot is not exactly closer to the station.

Me too. I'd rather have rain in my face, being buffeted by a mean north-wester than be walking in 40degree heat.

I suppose for the World Cup they'll add extra trains, but that line is really quite useless for servicing Century City unless they permanently upgrade the service there. There are no trains on Sundays and very few on Saturdays, people need to work/shop there specifically on the weekend.
Even during the week the Monte Vista line isn't very appealing in general, only 1 first class carriage and too few daytime trains. I suppose it can still be useful for people working there, not so much tourism or even shopping.. for the kind of people who shop there anyway. I might actually make use of this though, I could never really get to Century City before. |

Don't forget all the people that work in the Century City business district that would catch a train to CCity station, then use the bus to get to the office. You don't want to be walking kilometers in your fancy work suit.

Well you can be sure that just like any other area that is serviced by trains already, most upper middle class people won't use them. It definitely would be an option though, I think most of the problem is actually perception. If people used the train a few times they might realise it's worth saving a couple of hundred rand every month.

I saw it today too and I was actually relieved. It turned out better than I was expecting. Thank God they didn't use the oranges and greeny blues of Canal Walk!
