I don't know how...Turkey can build the nicest stadiums in the world, using the best designs, the best claddings,etc.etc. but when it comes to these highrises, all i can say is: ugly. Especially Istanbul is full of these 100-199m "old chinese communist style" boring residential highrises.

another example u/c (and many more already finished or in project): http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=775198

You shouldn't expect high quality from suburban residential highrises (although I like this one I know what you mean) The real office towers currently u/c in the CBD are all of high quality. Regarding the CBD the first office towers built in the 90's are quite ugly boxes but recently I love all the projects in the CBD.

It will be liitle bit offtopic but just to give an idea, some construction on the Büyükdere Avenue in Levent.

Firts of all, it's all a matter of taste.

Second, your opinion is not supported by the fact as there is actually nothing wrong with the design of this tower nor the whole concept of the tower.

Third, many Turkish towers u/c got awarded: Varyap Meridian, Zorlu Plaza, Trump Towers, Vizyon, Zorlu Center, Ikon, ... Which other city/country has got so many awarded towers u/c to offer?

I guess you're right...it's a matter of taste. So i won't argue about this anymore.

Istanbul is the 3rd largest city in the world. Of course there are some exceptions. I like those towers you showed me too. And showing me those nice projects now, makes me think that you know what i was talking about, and which towers i don't like.

Ok. I didn't say it correctly. I was talking about this category: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._by_population
But it's not important. That wasn't my point. It's a huge city nevertheless.

Those highrises were built in late 90s-early 2000s and they are the very first highrises in Turkey but nowadays we build amazing highrises (Both in Turkey and rest of the world). I believe the towers you've shown would get gentrified towards end of this decade. bEsides, beutiful towers in Istanbul are all scattered around the city so you have to search for them even tho there are many of them, despite the ugly ones are gathered and located on hills that can be viewed from bosphorus.
