BTW this thread is a reply to all those naysayers of chennai who rant that nothing has changed in last 10 or 20yrs.IMO chennai has witnessed all around development from manufacturing to service sector to infrastructure.

Thanks Arul.

Kannan Sir, you have to enable the button on Google Earth which looks like a stopwatch (on the top bar). This activates a slider on the upper-left corner, where you can toggle the date/year. Imagery for the US is available from the 1970s too, for Chennai it's 2000.
