Kochi an ideal location for CBSE regional centre, say stakeholders
what to do... stake holders wants it in Kochi... but minister has his own interest ![]() ![]() The CBSE Schools Management Association, principals, teachers and parents are happy with the move to set up a CBSE regional centre and teachers’ training centre (TTC) in the state. However, they expressed the need to have the regional centre located centrally so as to be within the access of people from across the state.Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor had said that the centre would come up in the capital city and the TTC would be set up here. But the stakeholders are of the opinion that Kochi would be the ideal location for the centre, while the TTC can be set up in Thiruvananthapuram. The majority of CBSE schools are located across here and in the northern region of the state. There are around 700 CBSE schools in all.“The centre is being set up for the convenience of the stakeholders. Kochi would be the ideal location,” said T P M Ibrahim Khan, president, CBSE Schools Management Association.Even the Kendriya Vidyalaya Regional Centre has been set up here and all the Kendriya Vidyalaya follow the CBSE syllabus. “As the city is located centrally and within the easy reach of students, teachers and the managements, it would be ideal to have the centre here,” said CBSE, ICSE Schools Parents Forum coordinator Dr Sanil Kumar. The principals of various CBSE schools are also of the opinion that having a centre here would make it more accessible for the stakeholders across the state. Currently, for every correction that needs to be made in the student’s name or other certificate details, or for obtaining transfer certificates for going abroad, the parents have to go to the Chennai regional office. The CBSE board has four regions across the country. The Chennai region, the largest, has 2,698 schools from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala under it. http://newindianexpress.com/cities/k...cle1389806.ece |

Anyway, the demand was made by the stakeholders, not by any politicians.... Kochi, being the district, that hold the maximum number of CBSE schools surely deserves..... Then rest all are political decisions....

Process to declare Cusat IIESR on
KOCHI: Central government has sought opinion from other departments on a proposal to convert Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) into a leading science education and research institute under the Central government. "The Central government has sought opinion from other ministries on the proposal to take CUSAT as an Indian Institute for Education, Science and Research (IIESR). Once the suggestions and recommendations from other departments is collected, the proposal will be placed before the cabinet for final approval", said a Cusat official pursuing the matter with the Centre. Recently, Union minister of state for Human Resources Development Shashi Tharoor, had said, "The initial procedures for making CUSAT at IIESR have been started by HRD. It is a long procedure including working out of financial liabilities and finally it will be placed before Parliament and required to be passed by Cabinet". Kerala government had long back submitted a proposal to the Centre to take up CUSAT as an Indian Institute for Education, Science and Research, rather than as a Central university. Cusat officials believe that once they are declared IIESR they will have more autonomy and better opportunity for conducting research. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/17722066.cms |

Cusat yet to get Rs 10 crore promised by state government
KOCHI: Cochin University of Science and Technology is still waiting for the state government to release Rs 10 crore that was promised as interim relief to meet the financial deficit of Rs 50 crore. "Government had sanctioned the amount and we had sent the bills showing the expenditure of the university. However, we have yet to receive the money", said Cusat official. Earlier, a high-level committee of the university comprising the vice-chancellor, registrar and standing committee chairman, approached the government at Thiruvananthapuram to deal with the fund deficit. The committee met the chief minister, education minister and finance minister and submitted a three-page memorandum in which it was stated that the university presently has Rs 50 crore financial deficits and the government has to sanction more money for Cusat to tide over the crisis. Even as the university's annual expenses has increased over the years, the state government's financial grant to the university has been curtailed, resulting in a major financial crunch, which it has been unable to overcome in spite of introducing new courses. This year, to reduce its financial liability university took various steps, which includes starting new courses, increasing the number of student enrolment in self-financing courses and cutting down on the overall expenditure of the departments. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/17722073.cms |

If stake holder facility is the concern then please allow us to establish a High Court bench here, as State Govt is the biggest stake holder with the honourable HC of Kerala , than create hurdles on a subject that was unanimously passed by the state assembly.

The count of CBSE schools is not of any botheration as they are opening like petty shops these days . If easy accessibility is the question then please arrange to shift all offices to Thrissur which is the Central place in Kerala. Incase of High Court we are asking for a High Court bench in Trivandrum & not to shift the HC from Kochi to Trivandrum .
