Possibly its a good long term project. But I can think of a lot more things that could use $500m now. $500m extra spent on public transport would service more than 3kms

I remember back when Labor built Roe 7 and axed Roe 8 and the FEB, the Liberals at the time said "if we are elected into government, we will re-instate Roe 8 and the FEB"

When did the Liberals change their policy on this and was there anything released by the liberals to say why their policy was changed? Or was it just a case of an opposition saying they would do xyz but when in government they conveniently forget their promises?

Also does anyone know if there is a map showing where Roe 8 and the FEB (as they were designated in the plan prior to Labor axing them) would have run?

This project is more about linking important industrial areas than purely catering for commuter traffic. This is much the same with the Gateway Project around the airport (althought that project has advantages for both the everyday commuters and freight).

I think Roe 8 should be viewed as an investment in logistics efficiency. Moving freight as opposed to people are two seperate issues and projects like this should not be compared to public transport.

I've always thought that Roe 7 was only really useful if you also built Roe 8.

i'd get the license but i need to view multiple states, and that $10 is only going to get me one state or territory... For $1,485 per month i can get only 2 states or territories lol...

end of rant/

Just go directly to this page so you won't be redirected.
https://www.nearmap.com/welcome-new

If you access it once (for me anyway) it seems to sort itself out subsequent times.

The reservation has always been in place (even under 7 years of Labor from 2001-2008). It's not that particular governments have put a complete stop to the project for good (by removing the reservation), but have merely just refused to commit funding to it.

Roe 8 is a touchy issue in marginal state electorates like Southern River and Jandakot so I wouldn't expect any movement on it in the near future.

At Karrinyup/Mitchell, Alexander/Reid and Albany/Leach, the new LED traffic lights are all crooked and hanging downwards at like 45 degree angles...has anyone else noticed this? it's completely bizarre.

Same at Cedric/Mitchell, and they've still got those glare block straps or whatever they are over the lights.

I don't get the point of putting the louvres on the LED traffic lights. They don't seem to achieve what they do on incandescent traffic lights.

The traffic lights are installed like that when they are in close proximity to another set and there is a chance of someone looking past a red light at one set and see the green at the next. because of the brightness of the leds they are probably more susceptible to that happening.

Thats true. Multiple point sources like the LED's dont work well with the louvres but I dont think they have any other option aside from maybe making the shield over each light longer.

This sort of makes sense as all these crooked lights are exclusively at major diamond interchanges. it makes no difference though - you can still see both sets of greens pretty clearly on the approach, it's just that one of them looks more retarded/hazed/messy than the other (exacerbated by those weird louvre/grill things as mentioned).

Congestion plan for Perth CBD.

Green CAT will run from Leederville to Esplanade via City West every 10mins.
