Dubai studios cheaper to rent than Abu Dhabi’s conversion apartments
Also: Most affordable areas to rent in Abu Dhabi

By Parag Deulgaonkar
Published Sunday, July 01, 2012

While in Dubai’s International and Academic City you can lease a studio apartment for Dh19,000 or less a year, no purpose-built studio apartments are available in Abu Dhabi in that price range.

The only option, if commuting from Dubai is to be avoided, is to lease a conversion apartment in a villa for Dh24,000 to Dh36,000 per year.

Al Hilal Bank, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Quote:

Friday 07 Sep 2012

Architecture firm Goettsch Partners (GP) has recently designed the flagship commercial development for Al Hilal Bank in the heart of Abu Dhabi's Al Maryah Island. The new speculative office tower is located in the Emirate's developing new central business district, accessible from the surrounding services. The 24-storey tower includes office and retail space, with 1,000 parking spaces for tenants and visitors. "The new tower creates a distinctive architectural form, which is expected in the region," said James Goettsch, FAIA, president of Goettsch Partners. "At the same time, the building offers very efficient floor plates that are atypical in the local market."

Shops, gyms, pools and libraries: Abu Dhabi's Dh3bn model for public private partnerships

Quote:
Abu Dhabi Municipality is hoping that plans to build 40 new community centres across the capital will provide a working model for public-private partnerships.

Under a project announced this week by the municipality, private investors will be invited to build and operate small-scale shopping malls alongside community facilities such as swimming pools, gymnasiums and libraries.

The Dh3 billion (US$817 million) plan is aimed at attracting tenants to projects that lack the sorts of facilities provided by master-planned developments. These include neighbourhood centres, which will contain convenience shops, leisure facilities and government services, and two larger district centres with supermarkets and other facilities.

Six community centre schemes are already under construction.

‘World-class’ souq to be built in Abu Dhabi

Quote:
ABU DHABI // Plans for a "world class" souq that will enhance the city's cultural heritage were announced yesterday.

The venue will help transform the city and appeal to citizens, residents and visitors, Abu Dhabi Municipality said as it unveiled its vision for the project.
The traditional souq would be built between the Sheikh Zayed and Al Maqtaa bridges.
The project would also link to Khalifa Park and Sheikh Zayed Mosque - two of Abu Dhabi's biggest attractions, a statement said.
The 150,000-square-metre venue will include a modern waterfront, a traditional retail souq, food, entertainment and leisure outlets, and an open-air performance space.
It is one of a number of community-led investments and developments launched by the municipality's investment office as part of a plan to improve amenities for residents and tourism offerings.
"This is in support of the Abu Dhabi Government's vision to make the nation's capital an attractive place to live, work and visit by building a safe, secure and sustainable society," a statement said.
"The municipality will act as a catalyst for building a prosperous future for the city and its people.

WAM Abu Dhabi, April, 22nd, 2013 (WAM)--The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is poised to invite public tenders shortly to develop a community Centre in Khalifa City B based on Buy-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

The centre will be funded, built and operated through putting it out to tenders for the private sector, as per preset parameters and rules through which the Municipality intends to build a large-scale network of community centers offering multiple shopping options to community members.

According to the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, the community Centre to be developed in Khalifa City B within Sector 41 is one of 12 residential district centres offering multi services as well as shopping and entertainment facilities conforming to the highest international standards. The centre spans a total area of 25,000 square metres, of which shops and cafes take up 11,078 square meters, whereas communal facilities extend over an area of 8,190 square meters.
