I think the existing lines average no more than 25kph, as when I rode it it took 15 minutes to travel between 6 stations (approx. 6km through the city center)(that was in June). Also the airport is amazingly far from the city center, it take over 50 mins by car (taxi).

hehe, I was thinking the same until I rode the shanghai maglev where the speed climbs to over 430km/h in just a few minutes. it takes 7 minutes between two stations so there's still room for 135km/h speed.

Wow! I could not believe it. Just within a short period Guangzhou and also China has achieved so much. New aiports, new buildings, new subways. Modern and clean! Thanks for posting. So much development, people will not even think of so much progress like this.

Guangzhou Metro, line3/4, best of the best

Guangzhou metro is the best one in China, and one of the best ones in the world. Other 6 lines are u/c, will be finished before 2010

Much better than Shanghai. Even the station names are consistently in pinyin unlike those Shanghai yanggui worshippers.

Same technology and look as Hong Kong metro. I was wondering why the rest of Chinese cities werent using their technology. So perhaps this city is the first to incorporate it.

Its a great metro system. Thanks for the images. I love it!

Also, if you can post the future expansion map with the six lines you mention that would be awesome.
