Guangzhou Trolleybuses Thread

Since the old thread can't view the photos anymore, I make a new one for all skyscrapercity members to post. Firstly, I post the link from the HKiTalk for the lastest designed low-floor trolleybus.

Yikes!

I'm not a fan of that design at all, especially the covered rear wheels and plastic appearance.

It probably is a case of being socialised to like what you are used to but I do far prefer Vancouver's new low-floor electric trolley buses. Below is one of the high-capacity articulated models that we are now taking delivery of.

Guangzhou - GRT (BRT)

Guangzhou's BRT will rival TransMilenio in Bogota as the world's highest capacity BRT system. GRT peak hour ridership will be 4 times bigger than the Beijing BRT, 15 times bigger than the Hangzhou BRT, and twice as big as the Seoul BRT (pictured).

Comparison:

For more the GRT (and BRTs) visit the GRT website at http://www.gzbrt.org/en/what-is.asp

Got to love those city center speeds. most LRTs from what I've seen can barely reach 26km/h in actual speeds while in downtown, let alone average speeds.

All of the systems beating 20 kmph have level-boarding and alighting.

In contrast, Beijing aside, those without level-boarding and alighting run slower.

Coincidence? Nah..

New Line4 Guangzhou Metro Photos.

I thought I post it here from the Chinese forum so it gets more exposure.

That station could look beautiful if it wasn't for those unelegant poles sticking from the bottom or that thing that looks like it has just been dumped on top of it.

No, the section between Wanshengwei and Xinzuo is underground.
