I was quite disappointed with the look of the trains.
They look very bug-liked. I don't like those types. The coloring of the trains is way too tacky, and over coloured, if they had the red and some other colour would be nice. but 3 colors on 1 train is too much. Even if they use 3, they can use better ones that go together. |

Colors? Maybe are not the coolest ones, but come on guys!
Color doens't matter anything under ground! The more, coz in Guangzhou the metro has the screen doors, u barely see anything from the train-exterior More important is the train interior and the look of the stations.I'm not sure if such big adds on the platform glas-walls are in each station, but what i remember from my trip to Guangzhou in June it all looked pretty much like this one: (my picture) ![]() If this will be on the new line 5, then we won't see any colors of the train

haha true, the only thing that i can't stand is the fact that 2 of Line 5's stations are elevated, and you can see the whole train on the roads and streets. :P
also, the screen doors at the elevated stations are only have way, but good they cover the bottom half. the exterior of the trains, are EXACTLY the same as Line 4 trains. which looks tacky. It's good from the perspective of the transit-user: it's more visually interesting then just being underground.

I LOVE the paint job. I think it's one of the most successful designs in China.
Different tastes probably. But I think they've done a great job designing the train.

The stations look very similar to Hong Kong's MTR.

it‘s a good thing to have metro from late 90s,so that it can be modern as the pics show. the subway in the US is just too old······

Guangzhou Metro is very slow in terms of adding capacity. Line 3 only recently added to 6-car sets.
For Line 5, they didn't really do a good job because 6 cars isn't good enough to handle the number of passengers. Also the subway cars for Line 5 are much shorter in length. I wish Guangzhou would plan new subway lines that will be at least 8 cars long if it serves the urban areas. |

Part 1
On my last trip, I spent a few days in Guangzhou on business and managed to take a few pictures of transit in southern China’s sprawling metropolis. Enjoy! First up, we take a tour through Guangzhou on the water, starting in Haizhu District at Zhongda Wharf. This is the pier for the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. image hosted on flickr ![]() This particular water bus service makes four stops along the Pearl River, with a ferry every thirty minutes during the peak and every 45 minutes off-peak. Fare varies by distance, but is between one and two yuan—a pretty good bargain. image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() Departing the wharf, we get a nice view of the wall of waterfront residential towers , with the silhouette of the landmark Guangzhou TV Tower in the distance. image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() There’s plenty of wharves scattered all along the river, and all types of boats to be seen. In addition to this longer route, there’s also short cross-river routes that take people between the north and south banks. image hosted on flickr ![]() You can sit down here, or pay a little extra to go out on the top level, which is open-air. image hosted on flickr ![]() Approaching Tianzi Wharf in Yuexiu District, the first stop. image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() One of the cruise-type boats. image hosted on flickr ![]() To be continued… |
