My mother 'fessed up some years back that once everyone had safely toddled off to bed she could sneak a peek inside her own parcels!! hehe...

One year I was deeply suspicious that Santa did not exist, so when I laid out his snack on Christmas Eve (a bottle of 7Up, cookies, glass of milk and
a Japanese orange) I made a little scratch on the bottle cap of the 7Up. I found that same bottle back in the pantry on Christmas morning, which was proof
positive who "Santa" and "Mrs Claus" actually were. I ran outside and noted the snow on the roof was unsullied by any sled tracks or hoof prints.
Voila. The icing on my proof cake.
I smiled to myself and kept mum about it because I wasn't going to test whether knowing the truth about Santa might mean the end of his presents!
I decided just to go along with it, to be on the safe side.

Oh no, she is still among us (in her 90th year!) and fiesty but frail. I just meant "was" in the sense of years ago when we were growing up.

TB, when I got suspicious about Santa (age 6, I think), it was because some kid at school told me that there was no Santa. On asking my Mom about this, her response was to tell me to go back and ask them to PROVE that there was no Santa. Being 6 and not yet knowing that you can't prove a negative, I was good for another year before my parents broke the bad news to me!

I stopped believing about santa when my big brother told me the truth about it when i was like 8 yrs old. That how long i believed on this "santa".

But then, my first canadian christmas almost duped me when one night before christmas, cp24 BreakfastTV showed on TV an object that resembles santa's slay in the radar scanner, blinking from the tv as it was, and that a couple of CF18 was to scramble to escort the slay. I was dumb founded for about 1min and I asked myself, 'Santa was real?' WTF! I didn't know that it was all fake at first.

Yeah, many kids get that Eureka moment when they deeply suspect foul play.... but also are shy to jinx the magic gift thing by being too nosy!

Don't be surprised, but I still believe (even for a wee bit) that Santa does exist. However, I have somehow stopped asking Santa for gifts (although my sister still does) because I'm a bit too old for that! Yet, I still find the occasional "Dear Santa" writing awesome as it reminds me of my childhood (and I'm already a young adult!)

No, it has meat in it. :-) It was a new resto that opened on Notre Dame, Corner McGill Av.
