Considering the project is being sold to the public as a piece of social infrastructure recognising Perth's 'coming-of-age' as a city, I'm not sure naming it after a monarch becoming less and less relevant to Australian society is a good idea.

In saying that, I don't think there is any more (obvious) fitting names.

Ha, turns out it was his idea. He asked the Queen about it when he was at Buckingham Palace last year and only recently got the go ahead from Palace officials. What a legend. You can't accuse him of not getting stuff done...

In a few year's time when the queen is dead, noone will really associate it with her. It will be just one of those names that people would get used to. E Quay sounds alright, just try not to think about it too much.....and there's really no danger of that happening here.

Whether you like the name or not, I hope the name sticks. I dislike that most people refer to our current ferry terminal as 'down near the bell tower'.

I agree, the name is pretty irrelevant.

Unless I can snap up one of those shared equity apartments at tax payers expense, I'm unlikely to spend much time there.
